Hmmm. You have to weigh the risk in all things you do not just sex.

I take it that you don't let anyone kiss you on the lips, ever? No-one goes down on you without you stretching a piece of bin liner type plastic over your vagina?

Wearing a condom for penetration is seriously cutting back on the risk from infection by bodily fluid transfer. This is what everyone is protecting about.

To be honest std's can be cleared by a good dose of antibiotics in most cases. What people are really worried about is HIV infection for which there is no cure as yet.

This is why blowjobs shouldn't be done to completion, spray it over the face or the boobs but don't swallow.

What seriously bothers me is the infections you can get from others, they know they must have them but carry on playing with others when infectious.

How about genital warts? same sort of virus as causes cold sores (human papilloma virus) Even using protection these are caught by skin to skin contact of the thighs. No body fluids involved, sometimes you can't even see them, but once you have the virus you have it forever. just like the cold sore virus.

If you are so worried there is only one way to stay completely safe and that is to be celebate.

You make some very valid points, but like everything in life I think it comes down to where you draw the line. There are things you can catch from just being in the same room as infected people. Why on Earth do people ever cross a road or get on a plane,,,,,,,because we have to live life, all that matters is that you as an individual are aware of the risks and that you know where to draw your personal line.

Giving up kissing would have too big an effect on my 'quality of life', so I will just take the risk!

But some of us take that risk because for us its enjoyable... I to be fair have it over me more than I swallow.. but will always have it fed to me after.. so guess its the same risk.. but done that for many many years..

For me it would take away to much of the fun... its a risk..

You would be surprised how many that think because they take precautions dont then go and get tested..

If you do some googling for this, there are many sources that say the risk of passing HIV through oral are minimal, infact LESS than through vaginal or anal sex (unprotected).

The risks would be if you had cuts or sores in your mouth, or even brushed your teeth recently (brushing causes tiny cuts on your gums).

Swalling semen from a HIV infected male is of minimal risk as the stomach acids kill anything very quickly. The risk would be if the semen was left in the mouth for any length of time.

Just go and google it.

Newcastle and Gateshead

everything we do has a "degree" of risk attached to it... be it crossing the road... or driving a car..or riding a bike.. or sky diving, bungee jumping or any thing else in life...

the key is to minimise the risks are much as possible.... so yes wearing a condom, or a seat belt, or a crash helmet, a parachute....ect ect ect....

nothing is fulproof though....

Regular check ups at the hospital do it for us, just wished everyone else did it too. We could all produce a certificate like car insurance lol oh how romantic. But at least we know we are clean and STD free

I don't think most people are naive enough to think they're fully safe. But they weight up the risks for each activity, same as the people who are happy to play bareback, and decide what control measures to put in place.

Therein lies the problem we all face. We as couples or singles know we are disease free.

The problem lies in our playmates, we have no way of knowing if they are. They may say they are but how do we know?

we have to face facts. non of us know if the pepole we play with are std free. even if, like someone has said on here, that they have monthly check ups. they vcould play the next day and get infected. they wouldnt know till the next month but have been playing all that time. its arisc we all have to take ime afraid. we can only reduce the odds and hope

peak district

You can be too cautious and we think that takes all the fun away. Yes, we bj without condoms, don't use dental dams, kiss after oral, lick creampies and so on. You can even catch things from 'normal' kissing and if you leave that out, sex just becomes mechanical. We do get tested regularly and have had Hep B jabs.

Lifes a risk ..... just getting up in the morning doing normal things your at risk of killing yourself too. If you sat there and did think about everything that could hurt you in some way you would do nothing life would be boring as hell .....yes i know we have to limit the risks, we take in life and be healthy individuals . Its high risk sex with others you cant get away from it x So i will have my 4 cheeks a year and look after myself the best i can and keep my self lovely and clean and have fun xx
