It's always a social meet first but they just never show, and write back a few days later wanting to meet again.... Nope

I no longer travel very far for a first social meet.

It's even worse though when you have met and take things further another time only to find that they can't do what it says on their tin.

Be giving this a lot of thought recently and I know this is isn't perfect but how about organising a mid way meet, maybe hotel?. Worst case scenario you at least get a night out in a place you haven't visited before.

Bloody waist of a hotel if there's no one to play with though

We only tend to meet people fairly locally, so it's not that much of an inconvenience if they don't show up or aren't as described.

If that happened to me I'd be straight on fab looking for locals who fancy a free hotel night and some fun

I have a hotel meet set for next weekend. My first. Pretty sure it's gonna go well because we've been chatting a while and get on good. But there's always that slight doubt!

I'd only do a social if I was specifically in that town and it wouldn't put me out of my way. (E.G shopping in Liverpool so free for coffee) Travelling great distances or spending money to meet strangers on here is at best naive, at worst foolish. Club meets mainly for me. Too many wasters on here.

I once drove 75 miles to meet someone I had met before.

I waited an hour and a half before giving up.

I must have been lucky, travelled for two hours a few years ago to meet a single female and had fun. The furthest recently was an hour away.

Usually though after lots of messaging and exchanging of phone numbers.

Try to make as sure as possible before travelling. I would only travel miles for a 'dead cert'. Minimise the risk as much as possible.

"One of the reasons I won't drive for more than 30 mins

I only meet locals during my lunch hour or after work for a drink. Meet in the station 15 minutes before my train. If they don't turn up I head home.

I can work from home/have a flexi day, so if they don't turn up I'm at home anyway.

Works for me and never had a no show in seven years.
