Pretty much sums up your attitude. You want sex with them, but can't be bothered to go to the trouble of taking a little of your time to read what someone has gone to the trouble of writing, to explain a bit about themselves, their preferences and their boundaries?
Just shows you have little interest or respect for people other than your own interests.

you've took it the wrong way, chatting and getting to know each others likes and dislikes, preferences is part of getting to know one another ? or is it right don't like what I read but like the photo so we won't chat we just get on with it !!! |

Many would like to get across that information before getting into a long winded conversation for it to end up going nowhere.
And for many, the first step of getting anywhere is know that there has been effort put into reading their profile and showing understanding of it.
Your attitude is endemic of why so many completely fail at this, and actually have no clue or idea about what swinging is, they just want an easy lay. |

The profile is there as an introduction, a conversation opener, a list of requirements. It is many things, but most importantly it is the first information you get other than a picture. A picture could highlight whether that person is physically attractive for you, but it won't likely show their humour, character, or temperament. Reading the profile will indicate whether you'll be a good match for the other person, or whether it is even worth sending your cut-n-paste "fancy a fuck" message. Yes, Fab is all-in-all a sex site, but we are sociable and friendly. To most it's about more than getting your balls drained. If you're after a quick fuck with a bimbo you know nothing, nor care to know anything about, go to town on a weekend, or pay for it. |

A long well written/detailed profile is the best filter on fab 95% of my PMs I don't even need to open as I can easily see in first few lines that's they've not read it.

Mine is a good size i think.but the amount of times people obviously don't read my profile when they say they have lol. It's when I ask them what they like about what I've written or what they like about non vanilla. I the answers are often comical.

Once you get through the laundry list of who they won't reply to, the standard complaints about one line, fancy a fuck messages, and the Sydney University thing, quite a lot of long profiles boil down to about one line of actual information

Exactly which prevents me getting 100s of messages a day and not being able to answer them. So I look locally and wink and message people i would like to chat to so I can concentrate chatting to them and give them the time to chat without me having to answer or delete messages from people to far away, fancy a fuck messages etc. It's been far better since I started blocking single men. And better for the men I do chat to.

I always read the profile... tbh id rather see a long rambling one than something which barely makes up a sentence. gives me a better indication of whether I think that person may want to meet me, or vice versa. and often the questions you ask the one-liner brigade you don't have to because the answer is already in the profile, as is the case in yours. which is why even if I could message you I wouldn't. as it would only be wasting your time.... and mine |

I don't like getting lots of messages from men that I would not be interested in meeting. So we go to great detail in our profile explaining what we want and what we are about. It's a case of laying all our cards on the table, so men can see whether this is a good match before deciding to message. That saves wasting an awful lot of time. Those who message without reading, well I then have no guilt in deleting, because at least no one can say we didn't explain ourselves.
Besides about a third of our profile is dedicated to our house parties, and I don't expect single men looking for a private meet with us, to read that portion. |

I must be honest, i do like to read what different people ave to say on there profiles, but i think it is very hard to make your text stand out from such a massive audience and when they are like a novel they all pretty much appear the same in some strange way
but i do enjoy reading every word though
not sure if thats a good or bad thing ? |

It is but there is only so much you can learn from a few paragraphs personally we like a profile that tells us what they are looking for and into it means we dont have to flog that proverbial dead horse chatting to people who we would otherwise have known arn't compatible with us |

I receive derogatory comments about the length of my profile. Also a lot of sarcasm. I made an effort and appreciate other people's profiles that do that too.

Setting out your shop window to attract people is far more effective than depending solely on them coming into the shop.
It doesn't have to be a novel, just an indication of the kind of person you are and what you have to offer. |

Actually I also tend to deviate towards a decent size profile, as I like a man who has something to say. We don't have time to chat to all these minimalist profiles on the off chance we might be a good match. |

How long is too long? And I'd much rather read a long, rambling profile which actually gives you an idea about somebodies personality than a short, one line profile which tells me nothing about the person "want to know more, just ask" "will fill in later" "single guy looking for fun" Wouldnt make me message, lazy profiles rarely get my attention |

I prefer a profile that tells me what they are looking for and like. If that is a long profile, so be it, it still only takes a minute or two.
Mine is quite long, perhaps longer than most. I have been complemented on it a couple of times. I do wonder if it is too long and people don't reach the bottom, but perhaps they aren't the ones I am looking for.
Having read another thread this morning on profies, it seems most single females and couples look at the photos first before deciding to read the text.
That's me fucked then. Or not as the case maybe! |

Yes but the swing scene is serious for us. It's lifestyle choice. It is fun, but we take that fun very seriously. Therefore we need to be clear about what. If we weren't clear then we'd end up dicking around with stuff we don't want, and this chosen lifestyle wouldn't be as enjoyable. Nothing to do with self importance. |

As one of those with a long "novel" like profile, my only response is hey, there are thousands of really really short profiles on Fab, some with a grand total of just two words ("lets fuck" was one Einstein's entire profile). So please don't tax your central nervous system, IQ, stamina and eyesight to read all of mine. Also, please don't waste the nation's electricity as profiles like mine won't make much sense to you anyway even if you reach the end and (heaven forbid) decide to re-read.
I do prefer men (and women) who have the mental capacity to be able to read a few paragraphs, be they in a book, newspaper or Fab profile. Unfortunately, it takes very little intellect to sit through an hour of Big Brother so in some ways this is my screening test (for grey matter).
