No Shows

Northolt

I got stung yesterday...

I know there are a lot of timewasters but we exchanged phone numbers. We didnt talk because I frlt there was no need too.

Its not often I can host on a Saturday and another conversation was going well but with plans already made was left for another time.

I know people can change thier minds,I respect that and say so in my messages to newbies... but a call or a message cancelling would have been so much appreciated.

I was sitting here, calling their unanswered mobile when I could have made other plans.

We should be able to report no shows and their should be a three strike and your out rule with the isp barred if that is possible.

Rejection I can take but they STOLE my time.

Sorry for the rant

Pretty sure there's a way to report them. Not sure if anything happens off the back of that though x

Not good but at least you didn't have to go out of your way travelling. I'd have given them 30 mins or so, text and phoned leaving a message that if I didn't hear back I'd get on with my day.

This guy offered to tidy up my lawn for free but then did not turn up. Who do I report him to?

"This guy offered to tidy up my lawn for free but then did not turn up. Who do I report him to?"

The international federation of lawn tidiers?

It has happened to us as well unfortunately.

When it does we instantly block the person.

In addition we contact everyone we know in the area on our friends list and warn them.

Clearly Fab won't support a formal blacklist but an informal one does operate between friends.

Try driving an hour out of town to discover the couple in question are actually on holiday abroad!

We discovered this after our presence at their home alerted the neighbours who questioned our being there at 9pm!

We were "family from out of town" who called by on our way home.

Very awkward situation, neighbours clearly weren't convinced and it could have gotten very uncomfortable if we had hung around any longer.

That was our worst experience of time-wasting and still aren't sure why they arranged a meet when they clearly weren't even in the country.

Definitely one of the most bizarre and mind numbing "no shows" we have had the misfortune of. x

You can report no shows to admin, but without evidence (ie unanswered messages on here after agreeing to meet), there's little they can do.

Naming and shaming is not allowed for obvious reasons. Anyone could make up anything about someone and post it.

Vetting is key.

Veris are an indicator, but can be faked.

We never meet without talking to all parties at the same time on the phone first and ideally, a quick cam chat to prove we are all real.

If messages, texts etc dried up and there was no response to phone calls, we'd assume it was off and look elsewhere.

We've never been stood up (yet), but let down on the day a couple of times.

That's life

I don't usually speak to people on the phone before I meet them, but they always turn up

I wonder if it was actually their address?

I doubt they would have turned up if they had spoken on the phone, I think the fact people are willing to swap numbers makes some feel they are genuine

This is absolutely the best thing you can do, reporting is not effective, but your informal blacklist does not break any rules and could prevent others from being messed around.

You are correct. It breaks no rules but provides a warning to others. They can ignore that warning or not.

It is their choice.

We however instantly block all profiles where we receive this type of warning from friends.

If those people who fuck about on fab actually realise how quickly their details are informally passed around they would be amazed.

In our area a bad rep travels fast and will destroy any hopes of arranging future meets.
