To slightly hijack this post (sorry!!) I use winks as a way to see if the person/couple would be open to me messaging them - if they wink back, I take it as nothing more than "please feel free to message us"... Am I getting this wrong..? People seem to think it's lazy? |

As already said I'll use a wink as a sign I'm interested, if I get a wink off a nice woman or couple ill then send them a message!
As a single guy I don't like to just message them out of the blue as I'm sure they get enough random messages |

Works the other way for us....winks are ignored and bulk deleted whereas messages get answered. |

So if you can imagine how many messages get sent, imagine how much more winks do 
If you want to gauge interest, massaging really is the only way to show your serious in my opinion.
Although I do have a giggle at couples and women who, on their profile scorn winks yet use it themselves  |
