"A turn on or turn off?"

Am I the only person in the world without them. It's a fad.

Until 10 years ago you only had a tattoo if you were in the navy. And girls weren't in the navy!

They look good on a select few only. Of both sexes.

"A turn on or turn off?"

It depends on what it is and where. If it's her ex's member in real scale it could be a bit distracting.

A "tramp stamp" is in a very specific place... The bottom of the back, central above the bum. This doesn't make all tattoos "tramp stamps"

Depends what and where on the body...

Well done ink = Great.

Moment of shame from d*unken night out = Not so great.

Tribal Arm Band = You were living it up in the 90's, or were foolish in the 00's.

Very contextual thing.

IMHO.

I have tatts and plan on having more so obviously I love them. Some tattoos are crap some are beautiful. I do find that in the majority that people who do have tattoos are less judgemental than those who don't. Nobody is perfect and having tattoos does not make a slight bit of difference to anybody's imperfections. Looking at some of the haters and judgemental peoples pictures on here they need to get some tattoos to make themselves look better!!!

I love them on both women and men. A tattoo to me does not define a person, but adds to their persona. I have two friends heavily tattooed. They look amazing. (These are not fab friends) each to their own, if I fancy someone them having or not having a tattoo, is not going to change my mind about them. Bring on the ink! Xx

I consider myself super picky when it comes to who I choose to meet of here, but these threads are ridiculous. I've seen a incredible amount of men who awful horrible bad tattoos, and not at one point thought I wouldn't shag them because of a, albeit bad, tattoo. What goes through your mind? Personally, tattoos don't bother me on either sex, I can find them sexy as well as someone who doesn't use their skin as a canvas.

If you want to check the actual history of tattooing, you'll find they were 'a crazy' for the wealthy victorians, and pre date the navy...

So yes, clearly 'a fad' of the last ten years

I honestly don't think tattoos are a turn on regardless of sex

If I'm attracted to them what they have in their skin does not really matter

I wouldn't find an unattractive guy/woman (in my eyes) a turn on because they had fantastic tattoos no more than I'd be turned off but a good looking person with shit tattoos

The only time a tattoo would influence my opinion on somebody is if it was an offensive tattoo like a swastika etc

Am I the only person in the world without them. It's a fad.

Until 10 years ago you only had a tattoo if you were in the navy. And girls weren't in the navy!

Bollocks I've had mine since I was 18 that's 25 years and I was in the navy but left before I had my tattoos. "

Ex navy fleet air arm here too.

No tattoos while I was in.

Plenty of lovely ladies in the navy all the years I was in.

Couldn't be me in the navy as being bi or gay was illegal.

Now I'm free to be me I have lots of feminine tattoos and sexy with lots of men!!!! I love them. Tats and men!!

I think tattoos can be very objective and to me a lot would depend on what and where they are.

That being said if I see a part of a womans tattoo it drives me nuts wanting to see the rest of it. A few ladies have teased me for ages with it before.

Depends where and what, R has three very beautiful artistic tattoos, one of which can only be seen when she's completely nude. Some women have too many little ones, fewer and bigger are better. One of R's sons girlfriends has an arm and shoulder completely done in beautifully coloured leopard pattern which is fab. The grossest we have seen was a "fuck me" tramp stamp in old English script, but maybe it worked?

Haven't bothered to read through every reply, but tattoos on a lady are a big turn on for me (Mr). Although each to their own I suppose.

Also, "tramp stamp" isn't a term for tattoos in general, it refers to tattoos on a females lower back. A term which I this k is very unfair.

Mrs Demoncore finds tattoos a massive turn on. I'm OK with them as they're well done, so it's contextual. I really don't like them on boobs, there's a porn star with spider webs around her nipples which I find of putting.

I tell you what I do find a turn on - finding out that 3 female forumites were in the Navy

"A turn on or turn off?"

It's an art form, and like most art the perception is extremely subjective.

Tattoos/Body Art vary so drastically you could just as easily have asked 'Lingerie - Turn on/off?' because there are literally thousands of styles etc.

In general, I prefer my partners not to have tattoos; but this is more about experience (my experiences with people with tattoos) than any aesthetic.

I only have one at the moment, planning at least one more, and if you are going to judge me for my "tramp stamp" then go ahead, that attitude is a useful filter. Figure it can't be that bad when my mum thinks it's lovely.

On guys I love well done ink but tattoos wouldn't be a factor in whether I'd meet someone or not, unless it was something hugely offensive.

Personally, I think if they are bad tattoos it's a turn off. If they are well done & look good & have meaning, then I am pretty "meh" to them. Mrs has nice tattoos. They have no effect on me in terms of being a turn on or a turn off.

Tattoos to me are just....there. They can be nice or a turn off.

You're the one who used words incorrectly; that's not semantics FFS! Don't get childish now you've been called on it, be a grown up and move on.

Back to the answer I gave to the OP, it was to qualify my reasons for preferring partners not to have tattoos; not an attention seeking allusion to some mysterious event.

Actually you're completely wrong.

A parenthesis is a word or phrase inserted as an explanation or afterthought into a passage which is grammatically complete without it. Now, while his use of the phrase wasn't correct, yours was only very partially correct. You can use quotation marks to indicate a parenthesis in certain situations, "so nice try". (See?)

Bollocks. I've never been in the navy and got my first one well over 10 years ago. Such an antiquated notion that tattoos are only for men and serving men at that.

Oh and women have served in the navy on vessels since 1993.

Personally I couldn't give a shit of they turn people on or off. I got them for me and if you are so narrow minded as to judge me by a few pictures on my body then we probably wouldn't have much in common anyway and I'd have had a lucky escape.
