Yes I am in the fact I'm eating salad based meals 5 out of 7 evening meals normally I don't have worry about my weight due to work keeping it down..but unfortunately I was I'll for 8 months unable to do my normal amount of work so I have put on a few pounds I'd like to lose the salad based meals 5 times in a week plus being able to work as normal has already taken effect I lose 6 pounds last week alone . |

Dieting should be for life. If you think you're gonna diet for a few weeks or months then you're setting yourself up for failure in the long run. Portion control first then get to know what's in your meals, for example, proteins, fats and carbs then adjust those macros accordingly to what works for you as we're all affected differently by each one of those macros. This will be for the rest of your life but will work and be achievable. Good luck to you all.
Oh and one more thing. Don't fall into the weight watchers hype as it's set up so you think it's working because your weight loss is just water weight. You'll spend a fortune on it then put all your weight loss plus a little more back on then go back and spend more time and money on it. Show me a slim weight weight watchers convert and I'll show you many more lifetime slim dieters. Enjoy |

Diets suck and never work. I've lost 4.5 stone this last year, through training for a triathlon. I couldn't care less what I eat - we only get to live the once |

This is what I am doing. I know what I should and shouldn't be eating; I can make low calorie meals, drink more water and say no to sugar laden foods. I don't diet,I change my eating habits and make as much of my own meals I can. |

Yep and for the rest of my life. I have T2 diabetes (insulin resistance) so it's a high fat, low carb diet for me. The advantage of that is the cracking body you see on my profile. |

It's not, it's empowering to finally have the control over food instead of the other way round. I'm empowered and a smug bitch. I've said for years that my diagnosis of diabetes was the best thing that happened to me; it set me free. |

Change what you have in your larder. Think of nourishing your body on a cellular level and not just to fill your stomach. Get used to walking past the cakes and biscuits, buying leaner meat, not using sugar. Make your own treats with natural products. |

We have looked at all you folks who say your on a diet the question is, Why? you all look just great. We whent on a lifestyle holiday to spice in lanzarote. We were worried about how we would look etc etc.... but when we got there it was so relaxed and liberating walking around naked. There were all sorts of different shapes and sizes and every single body there was beautiful in there own way. It was the little imperfections that makes an attraction. The most beautiful lady there must have been a size 18 plus french lady.
Ok going for a Kebab now xxx |

Because aesthetics are shallow. I do it to not die over many years of diabetes complications and live a life of ability, not disability.
The fact I happen to look smoking hot is just an added bonus. |

I got told at a routine checkup a few years ago that my blood pressure was a little high. So I decided to do something about it. It had nothing to do with aesthetics; I thought I was gorgeous at a size 20 and don't think I look that much different now I'm a few sizes smaller. It's also nice to be able to buy clothes without being limited to the big girl section (although that's still necessary with bras and capsizes). I still won't buy from a few shops though; they didn't want my custom before so they're not getting it now, the sizeist bastards. |

Sadly also cutting back & exercising more here too atm. Used to be so fit with gym, swimming, running, cycling & the odd sprint triathlon thrown in. However, several niggling injuries kept me out of doing anything but walking - slowly The weight jumped up
Now after a loooong break, trying to slowly building the fitness back up & started to see the weight drop back, but looking at the diet now |

We both have changed our lifestyle with healthy eating and regularly going to the gym. Hubby has lost loads of weight and is definitely noticeable, now starting to build muscle. Me... Not so well!! As much as I'm sticking to it, the weight isn't falling off as quickly as id like. Hoping to tone mainly but still have a mum tum to shift! |

Mt top tip is Intermittent Fasting (google it), basically eat at about 5.00pm, then nothing until lunchtime the following day (which is about 19 hours without food...your body has to use stored fat reserves)...it sounds terrible, but it isn't that bad.
Also cut out sugar (it's this that makes you constantly hungry) & the big carbs (no rice, pasta, bread etc) ....eat mainly protein & the weight will fall off. |

I've done this for the last 8 weeks and lost 22lb. Not only is it good for weight loss, but there are plenty of other good effects this has on health like lowering blood sugar and reducing the chance of cancer.
I wasn't exactly overweight to start with either, so it's not like I was a chubster with loads to lose. Since trying intermittent fasting and seeing how easy it is to lose weight, I just roll my eyes when fatties say they can't lose it |

Yep.
I was doing really well until June but I've lost my way in the last 8 weeks and have put a couple of pounds back on.
I have to be in the right mental place to do it and I'm not at the moment. |

"I don't do fad diets, they are usually not backed up by science and not sustainable. I want a healthy body, not a starved one. "
This is a good point but it's worth remembering that a lot of the diet and healthy eating advice given by doctors and health care professionals at the moment isn't backed up by (reliable) science and could be making the obesity problem worse.
Many now believe that the advice we've been given over numerous years about eating low fat is bad and that the science apparently supporting it is not reliable.
Every new way of eating begins somewhere and will be a fad until established. Some fads have foundation, particularly when considering that no one diet or lifestyle will suit every single individual.
I'm a strong believer in LCHF as an approach, and there is plenty of research on it.
I'm also looking into the grain free approach, (the wheat belly diet and similar), as that seems to have some merit. It seems like quite a daunting change to make though and I need to be fully committed to it, with enough time to focus on doing it properly. |

I initially cut out sugar + carb heavy food (bread, rice, pasta), but then I stopped eating dairy too (I watched a youtube video called "5 Reasons to stop drinking MILK" ....reason numner 1 was sufficient - so no dairy for me now ...& this is after drinking milk all my life. I used to have about 4-5 milky coffees per day - now zilch. I miss cheese more than I thought I would though).
Essentially, I'm on the caveman (paleo) diet....if a caveman didn't eat it, nor do I ...& it works. |
