I'm sure a lot of people will disagree, but here goes...
Anyone who goes back in the swinging scene 5 years+ would surely agree that the site no longer works for most in the way it used to. The main problems seem to be: 1) Men are generally treated as pond life with almost all messages going unanswered. 2) Womens inboxes overloaded often resulting in them rapidly leaving the site. 3) Quality of messages often diminished to just 2 or 3 words.."Hey"! 4) Huge numbers of fake women and couple profiles where only the male half is available. 5) Significant number of males who set up and recurrently get away with deleting profiles on a virtual weekly basis. 6) Utterly ridiculous imbalance between male and female members, perhaps as bad as 1000:1. - We only yesterday put a meet tonight up looking for a couple, where 184 of 188 views were from men only!
Without drastic action these problems will only get worse, and are doing as many good people are jumping ship due to sheer frustration at how the site no longer works, yet nothing is done to address it.
A bit like the NHS, anything free is often abused and Fab clearly is. Do people really want a free site that's shite in most ways for most people... Or something that actually works.
How about??? ~ ALL single male
profiles pay a fee to set up, where every male be it new or existing, pays a significant monthly fee to remain on site or face deletion... As do clubs and parties.
Before the howls of anguish/abuse starts, this change would have the following benefits - Time wasting men or 90% would be permanently driven off site and deterred as it would cost them dear. For the remaining genuine serious men, it would greatly enhance their chances of securing meets, also leading to them being given greater respect due to there being vastly fewer of them.
Not only that, but it would provide substantial revenue for the site, which could be put to good use to properly validate all female and couple profiles to ensure that a woman actually exists. This would eliminate fake female and couple profiles.
Fakes, Timewasters and Imbalance all addressed rather than gimmicks eg: smiley faces/green dots which address precisely sweet fa!
....... Or we could all continue with a site in terminal decline where all decent members are gradually driven out.

Why just single men pay a higher fee? One thing about this world is that it extorts the single man. In my opinion everyone should be treat as equals. One price for all, in actual fact sincle couples have two people, they are the ones that should pay slightly more. I am generally talking about club admission fees here. However, I do agree with the subscription fee, possibly reducing fakes or people just here for the ego boost. However, to offset that on just the single male population is a little biased. |

I find Fab is fine as it is.
Sure there are issues but part of being on here is spotting the fakes and not letting them bother you.
A lot of couples thing us singles shouldn't even be here.
Perhaps look for a high paying site some place else? |

Hi..I think you've missed the main point that the problem with the site is the huge imbalance of the genders. The purpose of only charging males is to bring the numbers back to a more equal balance, therefore improve the prospects of the remaining genuine men. To charge women and couples would only make the situation worse as it would drive some of them away when it's more of both females and couples that's needed. Life isn't always fair but the aim is to get a site that actually works better for all, particularly men as they are the ones who suffer most, by driving off the idiots making life worse for everyone. |

It's very easy to say that as a woman as they are the gender in scarce supply.. I'm sure if you asked most men they would confirm that the site works anything but fine for them. Surely it's better to rid the fakes than spend your time sifting through them. |

I think you underestimate the men who get regular replies to their mail. Most of the mail I send I get a reply. I'm not going to tell you how here on the forum so all the fuckwits find out, but I do.
You also seem to assume those who will be paying will get meets. You forget that people still need to be attracted to each other. Money doesn't guarantee that.
It's probably you who needs to change.
To another site perhaps?
There are many out there willing to take your ever so attractive coin. |

Wanting an acceptable balance does NOT want to get rid of men, it just wants a better site. Imagine a club free to all men?!.. There'd be about 10,000 men in there! The only way to address rationing (restricting the supply of men) is by using a price mechanism... Not hearing any better suggestions. |

We block all single men....if not you receive hundreds of messages a day. What you have wrote makes perfect sense! If I was a single male I'd be happy to pay the extra. You see many profiles who have been let down by a fake profile meet. There is genuine men being let down.

well yeah of course if this site works for me then i'm fine with it being the way it is.
i'm a single female, so in high demand. that's fine, and i have fiddled about with filters enough to the point where i know what to do when i can't cope on this site.
1) i know not all men are crap, just the crap ones are.
2) women get told to use filters when they first join the site (men might too, idk), i think this is a great addition to the site. if they can't cope with all the messages then they need to find ways to do that.
3) the internet in general has made some men lazy. especially mobile phone usage. also attitude to promiscuous women is still fairly old fashioned in that they will fuck anyone. many feel everything should be easy to get when they want it. they soon find out this isn't so and they either change their approach or they leave.
4) fake profiles are no problem for me, took me a few weeks to figure them out and how to handle myself online so as i didn't give them what they want.
5) see 3. and it hasn't been a big problem for me that people leave.
6) block men from messaging if you're after meeting a couple.
also i don't think that many people abuse the NHS.
you won't drive away time wasters, if they're still getting what they want off this site they will likely pay to use it.
but you will attract more men who feel entitled to sex because they have paid for the privilege, in their opinion. |

At last someone who gets it, hallelujah lol. The single women can't see beyond themselves (rather selfish).. And men want to pull the equality card when if they actually read and understood they'd see it's THEM who'd benefit mostly. Couples wouldn't need to block as much, women could cope better and hey presto, everyone could be happier. Silly responses implying "why don't you do one to another site" are a bit like being told to emigrate if you want changed in your country,... Deary me. Didn't expect anyone to understand or not see from their own selfish viewpoint cos that's life, but glad to hear not everyone does. |

Women don't come across fake profiles as men are usually always men lol, but plenty females and couples are just men so it's generally only couples and men who deal with fakes. As women we don't really come across them. Timewasters are precisely that because they pay fuck all, they also tend not to be money wasters. As I said it's easy for us women. I don't have any problems handling/coping etc neither and also use filters, but like I said it's not about that as that's really irrelevant when it comes to addressing the most stupid imbalance of genders.
Don't quite get why it ruffles everyone when a suggestion to bring about something better for all and sundry, basically isn't understood. |

i also get fake women and couples messaging me for some reason, despite me not looking for that. i also get the guys who pretend to want to meet as a way of trying to get sex chat off me.
but yes, because i am more open to certain things i do get a lot of men being more honest with me about what they really are and know that they are lying to other people on here. these men would still be genuine meets, they're just lying to get them. |

I get what OP is saying but the site has measures in place like blocking certain profiles or limiting who can message you.
I actually wouldn't mind paying more than my monthly upgrade.
Maybe the answer is reducing the amount of messages us single men can send to different users? Unless we have an upgraded account and have been photo verified atleast?? That means that us single men have to be slightly more selective and the time waseters then are reduced because they message less.... This also this then puts the ball in the court of couples and single women to make contact with single men.
I nearly always get a reply from women even if its a simple no thanks which I appreciate. However thats because when I message I take time to read someones profile. |

The site does work for me, I'm a woman. It's men who can't "tweek" and make it work for them.. They can't filter messages that don't exist, I know plenty attractive men who can go all week without a message or profile view and there's thousands like them... Hence original post and suggestion to readdress gender imbalance.
I'm not asking the site to change for me, simply looking beyond my needs.

That's a great idea too, maybe pay women to go on haha. It would be perhaps more appealing to women to join and remain if they didn't get bombarded by 3 word messages from idiot non committed men with no serious intentions... Which goes back to the gender imbalance no matter which way you look at it.
Simply saying that needs addressing, not suggesting men need punishing. I'm sure they'd get rewarded with more meets, in what way is that a punishment...if a shop gave everything away free there'd be a stampede and the overwhelming majority would get nothing..a bit like Fab. Pricing is just a way of rationing demand to match supply. Right now, there's a massive excess demand. |

i dont agree at all. i see no difference in crap messages from site supporters and non supporters. i dont see paying more would make much difference. if anything,as i think someone mentioned earlier, it would give some men more of a sense of enttlement than they already have. |

But mens expectations means very little if they receive a "sorry no thanks" reply. I'd scrap site supporter membership or give it free to everyone but sort the mental imbalance out as it will only carry on getting worse. Years ago, when total members on Fab was about 5,000 instead whatever it is now, roughly 30,000 the site actually worked loads better for everyone. |

I first joined this site about 8 years ago after having been on paid sites before. It's no different now as regards the gender gap, single males still have to send out messages on a shotgun approach and couples still read and delete or just ignore them.
Charging males won't change anything. I have joined sites which claim to be free, but as soon as you want to message anyone you have to upgrade to "premium" membership. To encourage you to do this you are bombarded with fake messages from non existent women.
Long live fab in it's present form. It is honest, free if you want it to be and if you are prepared to work at it remarkably efficient. |

That's fair enough and of course not fair to low earners. Hope it works for you then as if it doesn't being free means very little. Running my car costs money I don't have but I don't get around otherwise.. Suppose there's no such thing as a free lunch as the saying goes. Fab would be great if it was free and worked for most but due to the mental imbalance of men women there's a hell of a lot it doesn't work for, local updates usually says it all. Really valid point you made though, cheers. |

Surely the answer is to just make it so no one be they a single woman' couple , single man can send or receive messages or use the forum unless they are photo verified .
As a man i will l not send a message to any profile that is not photo verified because in my opinion if the profiles not photo verified its most likely a fake profile .
Making men pay will not stop them from making fake profiles where they pretend to be women or couples in fact in my opinion it would lead to a increase in said profiles as the cheap skate guys try to find a way around paying .
Now I'm assuming photo verifying woks maybe charge a small one off fee to all couples and singles to become photo verified and put that money to good use when it comes to verifying the photos .

The geography of swinging as a whole has changed in that time.. the issue is not single guys its simply that you can google swinging and then join the site to "have a look" charging sngle guys to reduce numbers is totally wrong, both morally and logically.. desperate men PAY decent guys move on...
Perhaps the "ivory tower" types or under 30's should be charged, as they are more likely to waste everyones time.. (not our thoughts just an example of a simlar daft premis)
We think the site is the site, if you don' like it, no one makes you use it.. why not go to a different site that charges guys then you are in like minded company already...

Quick way to fix this, but I'm American and we have no quick fixes for anything. If I were to send a message to a lady or couple and they didnt respond, i shouldnt be able to message them again until they respond. By making the men pay a seperate fee, it would most likely get rid of most of the genuine males. We can just go out and find what we are all looking for. As for the "time wasters", they would be more willing to pay the fee and bother you even more because they have nothing better to do. |

Why not have a filter of say PROFILES who have no pic . pic verified and less than 20 veris So they cant message you that would cut out a lot of switching profiles and males and Cpl profiles that are fake the gen one will get veris eventually by meets in cam parties clubs and meet events forums |

I suggest you go onto some (granted a lot of them are dating sites) that do charge a significant monthly fee to single males: there's one common complaint that the women on each site have (at least the 3 sites I have been on in the past) and it's time wasters. Unfortunately there's a lot of guys who get a kick out of pissing people off & being outright ar*eholes, nor do they have a problem paying for the privilege to do so.
The other problem with charging any kind of significant fee is that it will definitely eliminate the less affluent genuine single guys that plain can't afford to pay.
Contrary to what you have said in a couple of posts I think everyone gets what you've said as well as what you believe it would achieve, however they happen to disagree with you, as do I.
One way to limit (not eliminate) the number of fake profiles would be to limit the number of members that can join from any single ISP address. But even that's not overly reliable because one of the better computer security systems includes a facility to falsify the ISP address so that it is coming from any country on this earth....

Fake and repeatedly fake profile makers are a problem. I often see virtually the same couple of fake profiles reappearibg every other day.
Perhaps a way to block messsges that are too short say under 50 wirds would help cut down on the "Hey" "Hows you?" And thw "Fancy a fuck?" Messages.
As for the ratio of men to women. Men are generally more sexually promiscuous so that is to be expected.
Bad manners and rude messages though is something we just have to put up with.
I would be happy to pay a one off introductory fee. However i agree that wveryone should pay this nit just single men. |

As someone who has used sites where guys pay a fee I can assure you such sites are all about fleasing the guys and will use very underhanded tactics including using genuine female members as bait using paid staff pretending to be site members ,sending out flirt casts for all new female members that made it look like they sent them when they didn't all in a effort to make it seem like the guys are in demand .
Most paid sites are full of fake profiles some run and set up by the sites but most are men joining up for free as women why do men do this well because bi women on most of these sites has the same privileges as a single woman they can send and receive messages free of charge .
So a guy with a fake bi female account can send messages with out having to pay to single woman and couples .
Try being a guy in this online sex dating revolution most of the time by all sites out there you are viewed as a mark to make money off of .don't get me wrong I've had great success on one paid site in particular but to be successful one has to have ones head screwed on when it comes to fakes and scammers plus put a lot of effort into your search and by that I don't mean sending hundreds upon hundreds of messages |

Not read the whole thread - just read the opening post so I'm sure what I'm about to say has already been said.
I'm here as a lone male - I'm genuine (I've got veris and everything!) but if I was expected to pay a 'substantial' fee I'd be off like a shot or set up as a one of those 'male only available' couples accounts you was whinging about.
I would wager there's lots of couples accounts that are fake or harass the single ladies and you know what? Maybe they should be charged a substantial fee too? What!? Ah no? You mean you're not keen on that as you would be disadvantaged?
Best thing to do if all the single men bother you? Block them so they can't contact you and go hunting them if ever you need one. And maybe the ladies should too if bothers them.
As usual in our nanny society everyone wants someone else to sort out their problems rather than taking some self initiative to improve their experience on here. The filters are there for a reason. |

I think a way of controling profiles would be a rating system, if you meet or talk you can rate them.
You only need a few things like
Chat ability
Meet
Funny
Naughty
Cancelled
If each time we rated them out of 10 each profile would have a rating for each that you can block out, I know I would want high ratings for chatting and funny as I mostly chat on fab due to having a daughter makes it hard for me to meet.
So something so simple could massively change this site for all users, making anyone pay will not stop the current trend and it might put genuine people off if they don't have the money.
The site has changed in my time as a member but so has the world it's now very hard for a single male and we do see more fake profiles. |

Paying doesn't work. All that happens is the decent lads will just move on, the only ones left will be the desperate types who can't get anything anywhere and then the women will move on too as there is nothing left for them.
There are issues to resolve though of course there are, payment is not the solution at all. |

If there was a better model then someone would have created it.
This is a business after all.
If charging single men would improve the site it would have been done already.
But if single men were charged I'd imagine plenty would switch to a couples profile were miraculously both parties are able to play alone.
You'd have to go for a fully paid site were everyone pays and that would kill your supply of females and couples as they would switch to which ever new site popped up with fabs current business model.
It's rare that a simple solution will solve a complex problem. As I've already said if it was that easy the market would provide a competitor.

In theory I like this idea, but...oh god, I would end up obsessing over every rating. Like, 'why did he only give me a six for being funny? Am I not funny? And he only rated our meet as a seven? But he rated that other meet as a nine, I saw. What did she do that I didn't? Oh god, that's it, I'm never doing this again.' And I'm pretty confident and laidback. And what if you gave someone a poor one for cancelling and they retaliated with a dreadful score?

Anyone who goes back in the swinging scene 5 years+ would surely agree that the site no longer works for most in the way it used to. The main problems seem to be: 1) Men are generally treated as pond life with almost all messages going unanswered. 2) Womens inboxes overloaded often resulting in them rapidly leaving the site. 3) Quality of messages often diminished to just 2 or 3 words.."Hey"! 4) Huge numbers of fake women and couple profiles where only the male half is available. 5) Significant number of males who set up and recurrently get away with deleting profiles on a virtual weekly basis. 6) Utterly ridiculous imbalance between male and female members, perhaps as bad as 1000:1. - We only yesterday put a meet tonight up looking for a couple, where 184 of 188 views were from men only!
Without drastic action these problems will only get worse, and are doing as many good people are jumping ship due to sheer frustration at how the site no longer works, yet nothing is done to address it.
A bit like the NHS, anything free is often abused and Fab clearly is. Do people really want a free site that's shite in most ways for most people... Or something that actually works.
How about??? ~ ALL single male
profiles pay a fee to set up, where every male be it new or existing, pays a significant monthly fee to remain on site or face deletion... As do clubs and parties.
Before the howls of anguish/abuse starts, this change would have the following benefits - Time wasting men or 90% would be permanently driven off site and deterred as it would cost them dear. For the remaining genuine serious men, it would greatly enhance their chances of securing meets, also leading to them being given greater respect due to there being vastly fewer of them.
Not only that, but it would provide substantial revenue for the site, which could be put to good use to properly validate all female and couple profiles to ensure that a woman actually exists. This would eliminate fake female and couple profiles.
Fakes, Timewasters and Imbalance all addressed rather than gimmicks eg: smiley faces/green dots which address precisely sweet fa!
....... Or we could all continue with a site in terminal decline where all decent members are gradually driven out.

All you would then get is a huge influx of fake couples profiles set up by single men trying to get round the charge. you'd get looked at and approached by a lot more couples but they'd just be single men |

If couples and female fake profiles are a problem then surely charging everyone is the solution however on paid sites still timewasters and fakes. Personally though feel if you use the sites features the site can and is great from the female and couples view. Single guy view maybe it would change but as life is fast with not much free time I doubt for the guys that remained that they would receive more replies. |

actually - we think the site works fine providing that -
1) we exchange a few messages to gauge who is into what where and how
2) we exchange face pics
3) we speak on the phone before setting out to meet
getting lots of messages doesn't bother us, we use the filters when we aren't looking for more singles/couples

Though newish as a couple on here I have been on this site for a while both as a single guy and as part of a swinging couple.
That Fab is free is wonderful and it should remain so, paid for sites have exactly the same issues as the OP said. There are some relatively simple changes that could change the message dynamics though.
Every new member should have a limited time to be photo-verified, say 4 weeks or the profile is deleted.
Until someone is photo-verified they are only allowed to send a very limited number of messages per day
Every new member must provide a phone number that admin can contact them on (if needed)
A text scanner installed on sent messages that auto-deletes duplicate messages
Inactive profiles automatically deleted after 3 months
IP addresses stored against profiles to help prevent anyone from self-verifying
All low cost tweaks that just might make the site a little more user friendly |

Could the OP not just use the 'verified' and 'site supporter' filters so you are only contacted by people willing to pay for the site? It seems like that's exactly what you are looking for? |
