I'm not sure I can pinpoint the exact year that it became more common for guys to shave down below. Certainly when I started swinging in the late 90s it was the exception to see a shaved guy (I used to go to clubs and to a few gangbang type events).
But at some point in the mid-2000s it switched the other way, and suddenly it was the exception to see a male unshaved. It was about that point I started keeping myself better trimmed.
Have to say that during the 'unshaved years' I never had anyone say that they'd rather I was shaved. But nowadays I'd be embarrassed if I wasn't trimmed and my balls weren't nice and smooth.
So when did other guys start shaving? |

about a couple of years ago. Never once thought about it before.
I'd like to find out also historically when did it become commonplace for females to shave their bodies??? |

Possibly something to do with the increased availability of streaming porn sites, people taking photos and videos? Was reading somewhere that the rise in people trimming and grooming pubic hair has lead to a massive decline in the reported cases of pubic lice AKA crabs. |

I'm hairy all over really 'cept me head which is usually a number1 shave. Been thinking on it since being on here but where do you quite literally "Draw the line" as I'm certainly not going through the pain of doing it all over. H likes me hairy gives her something to pull out when I piss her off  |

About same time as woman did, only right to be equal. Having said that, I do prefer some hair on a woman, landing strip or neatly trimmed as opposed to total baldness. |

It's possibly because those who like shaven are often far more vocal in their hair (or lack of) preferences.
Those who prefer pubic hair don't tend to make a fuss about it if someone is shaven and would rarely use it as a point to not meet them. Those who like shaven more often than not simply won't tolerate those dirty disgusting creatures that still have hair below their eyebrows (pubic hair is absolutely filthy you know, and everyone who has it is obviously un-clean!) |

Him here, bit odd that I needed to say it but hey. David 'Golden Balls' Beckham had a part to play as an idol methinks. Didn't persuade me, not fully. I'm trimmed but not smooth. The idea being that it makes your cock look bigger, due to no bush. I can't help but think that adults wanting to be bald down below are somewhat slightly (I mean slightly, because everybody will go apeshit now) playing in the pre pubescent child form. Which sounds and appears dodgy, especially as 'paedophiles' or any relative resemblance is such a hot topic, you risk your house being burnt to the ground. I've done it off and on for years going back to my teens in the 80s but back then always felt guilty afterwards as if it were something wrong...but started doing it more regularly a few years back and have probably been hair free down there for the best part of a year now.

Me too - on mine that is. I have trimmed some hair for cycling but it iches like mad so I wouldn't want to do the whole lot. I did try shaving my ball sack once but cut myself, which is another reason why I'm not keen on the idea. |

Started doing it regularly as far back as 1990.
Did it for going overseas to work in tropical region primarily for comfort in hear and humidity.Just kept doing it ever since.
Occasionally a wee smattering of hair but nothing in profusion. |

Apologies if it's been posted here already, but there is evidence for women at least trimming and shaping their pubic hair as far back as the Imperial Roman times. Whether or not that includes shaving things like armpits and legs, I don't know. If they were trimming their ladyparts then, it could be safely assumed that this wasn't a new practice. It would seem that people have sometimes preferred not having an organic sexual flossing for quite a while.

I started shaving it all off about 3 years ago when I found a way to stop the horrible shaving rash. Before that it was neatly trimmed.
Now I shave it all off sack, crack and chest. It feels better and looks cleaner in my opinion. |

I also trim down my arm pits and leg hair with clippers but don't shave them smooth.
I think in the last 5 years or so men have been expected to take care of there personal grooming a lot more than before this time. |

Just adding my 2 cents here. How could anyone expect a meet with long curly pubes?! Urine, seamen and sweat just to name the uglies lurking in that forest lol you can wash but nothing is more hygienic than keeping it short and sweet. Maybe it's my era, kids these days can't believe we had mobile phones with antennas on them! |

I started shaving below around 1999,I liked to get my ex wife to shave herself,and then she once commented why don't you do it opened my eyes really so I did, wow loved it from the very beginning and not looked back since.
Looks cleaner more hygienic in my opinion and give the impression my cock is bigger lol.
So a winner all round for me.... |

Looking cleaner isn't the same thing as being cleaner. Plus now with all the micro-tears on the skin around your genitals, you are much more likely to catch and/or transmit something...
Also the risk of ingrown hairs. Nice. I bet they look so much more hygienic when they are oozing pus.

About 10 years ago for me. It was a situation of choice.....I played summer sports and obviously you sweat a lot.....nothing worse that betty swollocks so I shaved the lot off....had issues with ingrowing hairs and pimples but now I just keep myself nice and smooth.....the ladies seem to like it as well.....us guys like shaved pussies.....haye chewing my through 1/2oz of golden Virginia to get to the promised land lol |

I was single until 2004. Men always had pubic hair in those days. When we joined the swing scene 10 years later, I found things had changed. Not only was I expected to be shaven, but men were too. Used to it now. |

I think i must have started pretty early, definitely mid 90's for me when an ex wanted to suck my balls to see what it was like. The only problem was she didn't want hair in her mouth so we shaved them, just became a habit after that.
Now it doesn't feel clean down there if it's not shaven. |

I've always just trimmed but for some unknown reason last Thursday I just thought I'd shave the lot off for the first time.
Early days but so far I love it and most likely I'll keep it that way. |
