Think back to the last time you used a public toilet. Did you go in thinking about looking over stalls or hitting on people? Or did you simple need to pee (or poop) go in, use the facilities and leave? If the person is simply using the facilities then use the ones that match how you are dressed and get on with your life. I have used the male facilities when I've been really caught short and there's a queue for the female ones, none of the men had an issue. | |||

As for changing facilities they will tend to use the private ones with lockable doors. You won't see many trans people using swimming pools pre surgery unless it's an inclusive pool session that caters for people with disabilities and surgery issues. They tend to have body issues before their surgery that will make them unlikely to be dressed only in tight lycra. As for gyms they will often go to the independent ones where they know and are known and will not have to face any bigotry. Tvs don't tend to go dressed to a pool or gym, part of the being dressed includes the make up which water and sweating don't do any favours to. I'm not certain what point you're querying? | |||

If your tansgender and are officially a women , I have no problems, if you are a bloke in a frock, no way "But many trangender people ARE a bloke in a frock depending on where in their transition they are. Before being approved for surgery many have to live up to two years as the gender they associate with before they can get any medical professional to touch them let alone prescribe or operate. Btw you've probably been in a bathroom with trans people already. There are female to male too. One good friend of mine had such a good prothesis that he could have stood next to you at the urinal and you wouldn't have known. | |||

I was attending 'sparkle' in Manchester, an event designed to raise awareness of transgender people like me. Male and female. I fully intended to go back to my hotel to change into a dress for the evening but got caught up with the day and ended up clubbing dressed that way. I was constantly touched on the dance floor. Men taking hold of my waist and hips. You think I'd be comfortable it safe going into the men's loos like that you are sadly mistaken. | |||

I spend a lot of time with small children and also a fair amount of time with t girls and trans people. Personally I have no issue with who I encounter in the ladies at whatever venue no matter whether I'm in charge of children or not. The only issue I would have is with someone using the toilet facilities for other purposes ie: drugs or sexual. I have seen couples going into the ladies to use cubicles for sex and I have had someone try to kick me out of a cubicle because (unknown to me) they set up a line of on the cistern and I walked into that cubicle before their friend could. These instances involved genetic females. OP in some places the only baby changing facilities are in the ladies. A father out with small children is then directed to the ladies to change his child. Is that wrong? | |||

What about them using the gents at McDonald's where there are young boys in there?
I spend a lot of time with small children and also a fair amount of time with t girls and trans people. Personally I have no issue with who I encounter in the ladies at whatever venue no matter whether I'm in charge of children or not.
The only issue I would have is with someone using the toilet facilities for other purposes ie: drugs or sexual. I have seen couples going into the ladies to use cubicles for sex and I have had someone try to kick me out of a cubicle because (unknown to me) they set up a line of on the cistern and I walked into that cubicle before their friend could. These instances involved genetic females.
OP in some places the only baby changing facilities are in the ladies. A father out with small children is then directed to the ladies to change his child. Is that wrong?

when I was in front of him.
One left and I could hear him say to his wife on the way out 'you won't believe what ....'
One lad walked in and burst out laughing and said 'nice one mate' and gave me a thumbs up'.
On the whole I decided I caused a bit of consternation, so ever since then I use the ladies and it's never an issue for the assistants and very rarely for any patrons. Thankfully. I really do not want people to feel uncomfortable around me. If I sense that I will usually remove myself from their vicinity.
But I do have to pee sometimes and it is not right to use a disabled toilet and deprive a disabled person of its use. | |||

I am aware that assaults and invasions of privacy do occur but I have never heard of one where the perpetrator was a trans person. On many occasions, in many bathrooms I have heard someone enter the adjacent stall, do what they gotta do and leave without me knowing whether that was a woman, a man, a transgender person or whoever it may have been....nobody has ever sexually assaulted me in a loo or peeped under tge door.my daughter has never reported to me that she has been sexually assaulted in a loo or had someone peep under the door.nobody I have ever known has reported being sexually assaulted in a loo or being spied upon.
I am aware that assaults and invasions of privacy do occur but I have never heard of one where the perpetrator was a trans person.
If anybody knows different we'd all be fascinated to see the evidence.

And as to your last point about not needing to change anything...this was actually a big part of the political discussion in the US, where this is a serious political issue, not just a discussion. What was pointed out was that there is actually nothing in place to stop trans people from using the bathroom of their chosen gender. It was actually those who were against this who were trying to change the laws to make it illegal. So, in the case of the US at least, I agree - there is no need to change things based on what a minority 31% of the population think. | |||
