I have noticed that often my messages go unread. These are first time messages. I can understand that a single lady or couple may already have enough contacts and not wish to reply to everyone that writes to them but not to even read messages and yet seemingly to solicit even more contacts seems odd.
One is left not knowing if the message was actually delivered or not. Is there a technical explanation or is it just down to the actions of the recipient? |

"Don't fool yourself with 'technical issues'
Your message just hasn't been read"
Sadly, this. Some people get inundated with messages and just can't get around to open, read and reply to them all. Don't worry about it, move on.
Best thing to do is not monitor your 'sent' box - if they want to reply to you they will. If they don't, they won't. |

Sometimes I can be away from fab for a day and come back to three figures of messages. It's simply not possible to get through them all so sadly some go.unread and eventually bulk deleted. I have also got back to people 2 weeks later if I ever catch up..... |

Best thing to do is delete the message once you've sent it, then you've no clue as to what's happened to it and it'll save you fretting over why your messages aren't being read |

Cause most will look at your profile picture then click your profile and look there before opening the message.

Thank you, this confirms my thought that recipients must be overwhelmed with messages to the extent that they don't have time to even read them. They don't get deleted though which I would have thought might happen. |

People deal with their inboxes differently. I never used to delete the ones I hadn't read til someone I met on a social commented on the fact I had thousands of messages (collected over some time) and made a big deal out of it..... I then did a mass delete and keep it regularly cleared ever since then ![](/icons/s/biggrin.gif) |

Live with it!
There are no "technical issues". If the intended recipient has not read your message, it is for one reason and one reason only,,, They are not interested in you.
Move on and find someone else.

You're still over thinking this. An unread message means that it's been unread and absolutely nothing else.
OP, how do people solicit messages here, I'm interested in your take on this. |

We look at the profile first then decide if we're interested in the person messaging. if we're not we don't open the message then delete in bulk at some point later. |

Perhaps "solicit " messages was the wrong word. What I meant was that someone could receive many messages a day but still give the impression on their profile that they were actively looking. If one was unable to even read messages what would be the point of wanting more? Some profiles state that they have more than enough men they are getting around to meeting. At least that way you know where you are. |

Someone may get hundreds of messages a day yet none of them are what they want. |

This is not necessarily true.
I agree there are no technical issues but sometimes I leave messages marked as unread because I intend to reply to them later. If they show as read but I haven't replied, in my case that's the indication I'm not interested. |
