Hi guys. I like to send a wink to a woman just to see if they are interested, if they wink back you know they are.
Then I will message them.
I'm just testing the water.
A lot of ladies don't like it why?
Am I using I wrong?
I'm sure you'll let me know. |

I hate winks. I don't know if you have read my profile or not.
I don't know what you want.
I get lots of couples winking me but if they read my profile they'd see I don't meet couples.
If it's the female half of the couple then they need to tell me that in a msg otherwise I just ignore them. |

I don't respond to winks as most have no pictures and a blank profile. There's no way I'm winking to encourage someone I can't see or have no information on. I just bulk delete the lot |

I always do read read profiles, but I don't know about other people. Like I said I'm just seeing if they like my profile. Testing the waters |

"we mass delete wink everyday without looking who sent"
You could be missing out if you don't check them.
As a man on here I don't get as much mail or winks as the ladies or couples, so I guess I have the time to check them out. |

I think this sums up why people don't like them. It doesn't involve much thought it effort.
That said on the other side of the coin I see profiles from couples and sometimes women asking for winks in the first instance rather than a message but these are few and far between.
I do also sometimes see female post status' saying wink if you want to chat now.
I get a lot of winks from guys though and the odd couple, I don't mind them personally but then again I'm not female or a couple who probably receive a very large amount of them. |

To me a wink is what you said, they are testing the water to see if I am interested. They could also be showing they like what they see/read so I just take it as a compliment! If I like them I wink back, if I LIKE them enough to meet then I would message |

I find that winks are very subjective and mean different things to different people...much in the same way as fabbing someone's pic.
As has been said above if the person you're interested in has specifically asked for a wink then wink away...otherwise they tend to be ignored and bulk deleted.
Personally, if you can't be bothered to put a bit of effort into sending me a message then I'm not going to put any effort into trying to guess what your wink means. |

Nothing as I just delete the lot. Does say on my profile that I don't respond to them so that tells me they haven't bothered to read it either |

I personally wink if I like what I read or maybe a picture I see and state this on my profile, I use it like I would a smile at someone across a room etc (winking at someone in public doesn't seem right though). There needs to be some form of initial contact maybe the wink option should be replaced with a smile one instead. It takes seconds to look at a profile and know if the person appeals or not. |

I use them as a filter, in a way... I've stated on my profile that I ignore them, so if someone sends me a wink I know they've not read my profile, so I know I won't want to talk to them |

We like a wink, we usually have a look at the profile and if we like what we see and read, we wink back, which is usually replied with a message or vice versa, just makes being on here a bit more straightforward, works for us anyway |

You Dont Need to Know, right now |
I dislike winks, I don't send them, I don't look at them. As a way of getting on my radar it's completely ineffective. If I could, I would turn off winks completely, and trigger a bounce-back "this profile does not accept winks", so that people know that it hasn't registered.
I'm sure winks are useful between couples and single females, but they're not for me! |

I think that's the correct way to use it
But some will definitely disagree. Lol |

We do look at winks and regard them as a way of testing the water. However, remember a wink is without the benefit of a message, and therefore does not have the benefit of attached photos, or additional information. If you send a wink you are entirely dependant on your profile to get someone's attention. Most profiles are not informative enough, and I would normally need to know what someone looks like for me to be interested. |

Getting a wink makes me smile. I don't find it lazy, to me it says that you're 'testing the water' like you suggest.
I'd read the winkers avatar/pictures/profile and either wink back in acknowledgement or delete and ignore the winker. |
