How much compensation would you want. Take into account the supply of money is limitless.
£10,000? £25,000? £100,000 At what point would you have received enough money to be able to settle the kids down in a new school find a new job?

Very good post. For me about £100 iam ok single male no kids nothing to worry about I have what I have I work nights so no one knows me or really sees me in to day ied be very pissed off and shy but it would not reck my life |

I'd want to hire a private detective and get similar incriminating pictures and sell them to rival newspapers anonymously ...then I'd want the photographer to pay me the money they received for the photos...  |

Would this not depend how and where the pictures where taken?
Ie through a window, or balcony or back yard with a telescopic lens is legal under uk law iirc.
However would be illegal in france

hmmm rather misleading information. .although you're right it's only fair to add that..
a right to privacy exists in the UK through the Human Rights Act 1998. This can result in restrictions on the publication of photography.!!
A very limited statutory right to privacy exists in the Copyright Designs and Patents Act 1988. This right is held, for example, by someone who hires a photographer to photograph their wedding. The commissioner, irrespective of any copyright which he does or does not hold in the photograph of a photographer which was commissioned for private and domestic purposes, where copyright subsists in the photograph, has the right not to have copies of the work issued to the public.
so basically in the UK you can take photographs of people on private land doing their thing BUT you'd be breaking a couple of laws if you published them xx

This actually happened about 15 years ago in xanadus Manchester.
The club didn't get paid a penny other than free advertising and the unwitting guests had their mugshots plastered all over the daily sport for months. |

It does seem wrong and distinctly invasive to have someone take what would obviously be considered a compromising picture and then publish it in a national newspaper without any permission or consent at all. Bastards. Should be at least £100,000 per person to both try and teach them a lesson (mind you, it is the sum so probably not) and reflect the invasive and potentially damaging nature of the article. |

Buy me a pint. I'm "out" to friends, family, work colleagues etc. so it wouldn't do me any harm.
I do, however appreciate what others are saying though.
My understanding is if you can be viewed from public land then you don't have much of a case?
I would think that for many people, no real harm would be done for carrying out a perfectly legal pass time. |

What about publishing a fab user's profile pic (that happens to be face and boobs) when they commented on post in the swingers club events. Published on a national newspapers website in article about swinging. |

Were you made aware that someone was there that night? They should have put notices up, if the club/event organisers knew about it and if not, then you have more of a case to claim from the newspaper.
It will also depend on how much damages it has affected your life, so losing a job, whether full time or part time volunteering will increase the amount. Keep records of any abuse or anything which has had any effect on your day to day life, it will add support to your claim. |

Given the users of this forum are interested in swinging, and a large number appear to have no idea on the context. I guess it shows how little interest there was in the story.
It only takes one twat to read it and try to ruin someone's life though.
If it cost my career it'd be future earnings up to 65 plus relocation costs. If it just cost my job and I had to move, £200,000 should cover it. But I expect nothing is all that's on offer. |

I think we all need to be on our guard as there will be those wishing to expand the story further.
