Totally agree with all of the above. Good spelling is not indicative of intelligence. |

Bad spelling dosen't bother me that much. That said, text speak in a mail really does. It takes twice as long to work out what the message is saying and it's the most unerotic form of communication that i can think of. |

ha ha -yes our spellings not 100% but mail (male) an meat (meet) are so basic and it happens so often, when your a single guy it cant do your chances any good was the point lol, we ended up meeting a dyslexic yorkshireman not long ago anyway, he was wearing a catflap! |

"please learn to spell before sending us anymore messages guys, it doesnt do you any favours in an introduction message!"
I beg to differ.
I does YOU a massive favour by helping you to filter out the braindead on the first message |

In a perfect world, a person who is a fabulous sexual partner would be able to spell perfectly. Personally, I prefer to focus on the fabulous sex rather than worry about a few typing errors.
Oh and by the way, it's 'any more' rather than 'anymore' |

punctuation does matter..........take for instance "Lets eat Grandma"........a simple commer makes it "Lets eat, Grandma" - Or "My Uncle helped Jack off a horse"..........or "My Uncle helped Jack, off a horse"........easy?
Sometimes people read things differently if incorrect punctuation is used....did you? |

I really don't think it matters as long as someone is polite and you understand it. We would rather have poor spelling than rude messages or cut and paste ones. |

There should not be a comma in "My uncle helped Jack off a horse"!
That is wrong, the fact Jack should be spelled with a J not a j should make you realise it was a person!!
If your going to moan about spelling and punctuation get it right!! or keep quiet |

I wholeheartedly agree with this comment. Am not one to point out grammar or spelling mistakes, as I know my own shortcomings. So in that token I wouldnt also put a thread up about others either. |

"spell checker springs to mind"
That's OK, but a spellchecker would not flag up a fault with meat or mail!
And for my twopenneth, my pet hate is to when it should be too in a sentence!

"Kids in school today are being told to spell it how it sounds and txt speak doesn't help other peoples grammer like wot it sud be "
Are you being serious about being taught text speak in school?
I know my children were taught phonetically to help with reading but never text speak |

I can spell, but I am no good at typing, and sometimes forget/don't have time to check e.g. "Like" invariably comes out as "liek"...it must be the way my fingers are attached!
So the odd bit of poor spelling is fine-something that you have to try & read 10 times to get the gist of is a nightmare!
And if you speak like Rab C Nesbitt, please don't type liek you speak LOL
See what I mean.....................................^^^

I agree with the OP ..... yes we all make spelling mistakes from time to time, but anyone sending messages on a swingers site should know the difference between mail and male, and between meet and meat. Another personal bugbear is people who don't know the difference between know and no.
It only takes a few seconds to pre_iew a message/post, to make sure that these obvious errors have been avoided .... and surely everyone can spare a few seconds when they're trying to make a good impression?
In Chat, I think it's fine that spelling/grammar isn't always correct - the chat room goes too fast to try to achieve perfection. But to be honest, there are several messages in the Forums where the punctuation is so bad that I just can't be bothered to try to guess where the sentences start and end! |

Ha,ha,Sooooooo true(yes I know Ive spelt that wrong!)!Im not really good at spelling or punctuation either.(As youll realise reading this.)
I chatted with a nice well to do(posh!) lady a long time back on a different site who at the time lived in London. She dissmised me because of my spelling and punctuation.I chuckled to my self about her _iew or her self reasoning on this this, but respected her right to have her own _iews and right to decide that I was not for her, whatever the resoning to her choice was.I wished her good luck and went about my business.About that time I stopped going on the site.
A year or so later I was in a chat room and during a chat with some other lady.(I noticed the said posh lady enter into the chat room also) Anyway, during the chat I was asked about my picture on my profile(background being the Rockie mountains. It come out that I had been living in Aspen Clorado USA for 6 years.Being payed to play and coach a soccer team who where very succesful and was making a very good living in doing so.
Out of the blue. She(said posh lady) interupted the chat by sending me a request for a private conversation to chat!
It turned out that she had since moved and now lived about 30 mins away.We ended up meeting, then meeting some more over a passage of time.I asked her during our first meet didnt she remember me?She said no so I mentioned the time she knocked me back!I took the piss (playfully)out of her over it for a bit.Whenever I do go to visit I never fail to have her squiting like "old faithfull."To a point that borders on it being able to be classed as water sports! She says I am such a nice person.Loves spending time with me when I do go,always wants me to stay longer.Wants to see me more often.Wants to go steady and has asks me to live with her(well, has done twice.)
Still to this day it makes me chuckle and she cant beleive what "she had done and nearly missed me,"as she says.
She also says "she will never make that mistake again!" |

To be honest, i hate bad spelling and grammar, i'm always careful when i type a comment and message not to make any mistakes, if i have i delete it and start again, can't help it, its the way i am.
If someone sends me a message full of text speak, i find it offputting when its from someone in the 40-50's age group, at that age i expect them to be able to string letters together to make words, i dont expect to have to get my kids to translate a message for m
On the other hand, yes i do know some people struggle incredibly with spelling and some are dyslexic, i dont have a problem with that at all, afterall i struggle with maths, guy that invented it wants a twelve bore up his ass |

Funny that - over the years I've known some people that initially dithered over us meeting (by "dithered" I mean couldn't decide between 3 months and 2 years, depending on the person) yet when we did have a chance meeting (some club or social) they've admitted to me "We should have met sooner".
I did offer. |
