First I should explain that I was with my ex when I had my hysterectomy and we didn't have a sex life. But,afterwards I was much healthier with more energy and when I did start having sex with other men it was great. I still have my cervix so I can have orgasms from penetration. I still get pain with big cocks and some that bend towards my scar tissue-I had big fibroids removed too. All in all my sex drive went up and so did my enjoyment of sex.

I had my op 11 months ago. No cervix. Have noticed I do get pain sometimes having sex. Yes sex drive has increased dramatically . Which suprised me.

Hi

I had my hysterectomy about 2.5 years ago and haven't looked back. Although it was done abdominally I too lost my cervix. My sex life has never been better as the fibroids meant sex hurt, a lot. There are some positions that are slightly less comfortable but overall no problems and fun is being had. My biggest concern was the scar which no one has commented on to date.

I hope you find your confidence again soon

Thats my main concern my scar. Very body conscious because of it. It's a case of no ones mentioned it. But I know its there.

I had everything removed and felt great fom the minute I had it done. No cervix or ovaries and because I was in my 40's no hrt. I continue to feel great, my libido is like wildfire !! I do sometimes use a non hormonal lubricant, but it has been so great enjoying sex again.

My scar is from belly button to pub is. It was red but is now hardly noticeable. I count myself lucky as my huge tumor was benign. I have found guys don't seem to care about it, they are usually too busy looking good at my breaststroke

I was incredibly conscious of it and one day I realised I wasn't thinking about it any more. It probably took about 18-20 months for me to get to that stage. It definitely took me time to stop worrying about it. I'm sure you'll get there especially if you're feeling so much better

I had my hysterectomy when I was 28 I'd been in so much pain for so long before hand that there waste really much of a sex life to speak of anyway.

I had my cervix removed (which was large and abnormal anyway) and kept my ovaries, everything was done internally so no external scars and I recovered quickly and my sex drive went through the roof, probably because there was no pain or discomfort anymore

my sex drive is higher now. But experiencing discomfort after sex.. Although not on every occasion. But I had total abdominal hysto with a hip to hip scar. Maybe that's the reason. They do say 12 months for complete recovery.

So without a cervix can you not have orgasms from penetration? X

In UK they don't believe that cervix is linked to sexual enjoyment, and total hysterectomy (uterus and cervix removed) is common but other countries the evidences/studies is more conflicting

My mother in law had the operation and she was very nervous and aprehensive that she would lose the urge to have sex after the operation.

She did not dare have sex for six months afterwards as she was sure she had lost her mojo. However this was not the reality she has a very healthy sex life now. Much better than she had pre-op her words not mine.

Had a total hysterectomy done 2 years ago now by keyhole surgery no scars ,we were back playing after 5 weeks with no problems. Had been asking for it for years as constantly bleeding then after trying everything the Dr said I'm sorry there's only one option you need a hysterectomy.

The money and time they could have saved if they had given me what I'd asked for and all the pain and inconvenience it caused for myself and hubby.

I had mine done 2 years ago. My sex life with my partner at the time suffered massively. I didn't want him to go near me. I don't know if that's cuz I lost interest or cuz of the op. But I've been seeing someone else. And the sex life is amazing! It hurts in some positions. But we work around that and find another position. My bladder has some problems now because it was shoved around in the op. I had mine because I had cancer. But I can have sex everyday of the month with no mess

There was another thread about this a little while ago - search forums for word hysterectomy for a nosey. I was shocked at some of the replies - some were just a few weeks - others were like 18months!!!

I was supposed to have my hysterectomy in March but our blessed NHS has delayed me hugely and even performed another procedure on me in the meantime to get rid of the evil cells before I have the lot whopped out.

Roll on August. I'm dreading it and excited in equal measure!?

Partner or no partner that has nothing to do with your Dr , pompous self righteous people some Drs . If you feel your life will benefit from having a hysterectomy then keep pressuring your Dr that is what I had to do .

I had a full hysterectomy with cervix and ovaries removed 5 years ago and it's been marvellous!

I use HRT patches which stop me being turning into psycho-bitch every month, no periods AND I think I orgasm quicker now.

We 'tried me out' with just clitoral stim after a week which was scary but amazing and penetrative sex was 6 weeks as recommended. There's a lot of healing and it's best to hang on rather than cause problems for yourself. If we play with a guy with massive cock it's a slight problem but we find other things to do...!

I found the whole process really easy and was back at work after 10 days, however my sister had the same op and was ill for weeks. She's always been bloody awkward though...

Good luck.
