Lately I've had rather a lot of messages along the lines of.... 'hi how are you? Do you have kik/whatsapp' ... when I reply that I feel fab is a perfectly adequate form of communication... no reply... which of course is fine but I'm left wondering if I'm missing something??? |

Personally I find kik or whatsapp a faster more reliable way of contact, but I'd never ask for someone's number on the first message. Always communicate through here first because giving your number out can be a big thing right? |

I'm not a fan of what's app but I find kik quite useful if you have been chatting on here for a while and want to move things on a bit...
You don't have to exchange numbers to access profiles and if it all goes tits up you can block the other person...
I use it mainly to stay in touch with people |

"I find that they can only send pictures via WhatsApp/kik.
What's wrong with having then privately on here.
A good way for them to bombard you 24/7 "

The messaging function on the site leave a lot to be desired, it's so much easier to chat on a dedicated messaging app. We normally exchange a few messages on here then move to kik. No problem if the other petson doesn't want to. |

Exactly this, I find it a more reliable and faster messaging platform, you can have actual conversations on there without the fuss of going in and out of your inbox |

I prefer kik purely because I don't have to give my number out and I get an alert when someone sends me a message. That means a better response and faster more fluid chat |

Absolutely agree with you on that one. Of all the not so good features on fab, the one that is in desperate need of an overhaul is the message system. |

Fabs is awful for holding conversations tbh |

Kik is a really handy tool for messaging. Primarily you don't have to give out a phone number so it's much better than whatsapp.
And being a couple you can set up a group chat so you can both respond even when your not together. |

We don't use Kik, but find using a 'group chat' on WhatsApp a great tool once we've established a connection. With group chat everyone gets to see and reply to the messages and it's really fun and above all inclusive. Would agree with only messaging on here until things are looking good. We all have our own way of doing things and you shouldn't feel awkward in any way for doing what feels right for you. If people aren't prepared to respect that then chances are they weren't for you anyway.

I'm not on fab 24/7 and getting a notification that o have a message is a lot quicker and easier to reply to than going online.
We don't REQUIRE kik but it's definitely handy. We never use what's app tho, don't like giving out our numbers |

I like kik for discretion as you do not need to dwap numbers, and you can use it in public easier than fab. Additionally you can group chat which you cannot fo here. |

And... I think it's the discretion element. I'll be asking for your number early in a conversation. I use whatsapp at work to communicate, so having it on and checking messages is a little more "SFW".. |
