I appreciate all the public services. The fire fighters, prison officers, coppers, armed forces guys, border agency, etc.
Prison service is heavily understaffed, they really don't have it easy |

Yes NHS staff at the lower grades and all public servants.
Of course they're not all wonderful saints but by god a lot of them are and have to try to do a good job with their hands tied behind their backs and in impossible working conditions

Are you comparing health workers and fire fighters who look after people with soldiers who kill people for oil? |

I wonder who would those health workers and fire fighters be looking after if not for the soldiers who fought in WW1 and WW2. You have no idea what they have to go through so please keep stupid comments like that to yourself. |

I am a Paramedic and if you see what I see you wouldn't go out and if it gets any worse up to 2 hrs waiting with a sick patient on an ambulance trolley when i should be less than 10 minutes at hospital. The NHS is going to implode and soon if nothing is done the Junior Doctors are the first and softest target because they are on 6 month rolling contracts . Who is going to be next |

"NHS here...love my job and love the NHS and all public services.
The fact we need to fight to keep them from privatisation is insane!!!"
Mrs works in NHS, their area has just been taken over by virgin and she says they are a 100 times better than the useless managers that she worked under before. The NHS is a brilliant idea ruined by political dogma and incompetent managers, 100% respect to those that work at the coal face and do all the shit jobs though. |

you do know that some before serving in the forces 'during the war's' were before they served members of the professions your referring to and some did that during those conflicts..
even now there are some who after serving have also entered those professions..
quoting the guys n gals who served in ww2 to overthrow tyrany etc and then telling someone to telling someone to 'keep their stupid comments' etc is a tad ironic..
as ex services and also blue light emergency services i dont think the quote you replied to was accurate or helpful to the debate but telling them to shut up doesn't either.. |

Mrs Surrey's PCT was also taken over and they seem to have similar managers, far fewer staff and funding seems to be scarcer across the board but the managers do have a lovely set of offices.. |

I'm very well aware that every pair of hands was needed during the wars. Everyone who could, participated. I'm also aware that many ex military people join other sectors of public services afterwards. I did not mean to diminish any of the public services, hence why I said I appreciate them all. I'm sorry if my argument came off a little strong but stereotyping soldiers in such way is out of place. |

It is probably not worth saying. Yes, appreciation to most working in the NHS. But not the Dr Shipmans of this world.
Not everyone is an angel.
Sorry to put a downer on it. While most are praiseworthy, not all are. |

Worked in the NHS for years.. Now looking to retrain and return after 14yrs (think my current career has run its course and it would be nice to see my son before he's asleep.) massive respect for all parts of the healthcare community, including the Dr's.
NHS, private and military.. They all do a grand job. |

Too right. I was a nurse in a&e and it was hard work. I worked with people, some of which i didn't get on with but was a privilage to have worked with every single one of them. Hard working, dedicated and principled.. Such a contrast to this government. |

I have never worked in the nhs but I have always had a great respect for those that do. My father suffered a stroke early last year and I can't thank the dedicated staff that helped him through it enough. You all do a great job and have my admiration. I love you all |

NHS here. Despite what some parts of media like to portray it's a truly amazing institution, achieving the incredible with such limited resources. The main reason it does so is because of the people who make up its workforce. Every day I work with people I'm privileged to call my colleagues.
This government must not be allowed to succeed in its privatisation agenda. |

"im sure there are some good people who work in the nhs. Praps its just me who gets the useless self important cunts."
See, I do appreciate that there are very many wonderful people in our NHS. But I do agree that there are cunts, too, like in every walk of life.
Don't get me started on the standard of care I witnessed when my father in law was in a ward.
I have been the beneficiary of a great NHS service ... But just because you are employed by the NHS does not make you a great person. You still have to be a great person. |

Agree, entirely. But don't get up all your own asses. The moment you forget that there is room for improvement is the moment patients suffer. There are enough surveys out there showing room for improvement. |

Dont let the govt's room for improvement fool you too much. There's room for improved operating, improved running etc etc for sure as there is in most be it priv or public.
However beating people up with their pensions, working hours, salary, no pay rises whilst working for out've touch, inept management plus operating ££ budgets shrinking at a greater rate the country's demands are expanding is a bit of a piss take. |

Soldiers are trained killers. Peace keepers sound nicer but they keep the peace by killing or threatening to kill. |

I am not demeaning the great work and dedication. I have seen the best. And the worst. Being a part ot the NHS does not make you an angel. Being an angel makes you an angel. |

There is always going to be room for improvement, the problem is the NHS was never ment to be a profit making company the idea was everything the NHS made went back into the NHS sadly that no longer applies, now days so many people have shares in it and they all want their share of the profit before anything goes back into the hospital, its massively understaffed and hospital doctors and nurse's work such long hours mistakes will be made, when i work in oncology 24+ hour shifts were usual, who can keep focused when your working those sorts of hours but when they don't have the staff to take over your shift and your asked to work over what can you do, so no i'm going to bed and leave the ward even more understaffed or work over
My daughter ended up having a hystarectomy at 18 because of NHS fuck ups, i also had to go private to get an operation on my other daugher's legs because after 15 years she was still on the waiting list and i decided enough was enough and i ended up paying for it
Most people will have complaints about the NHS and even though there indeed are cunts that work there, i know i've worked with a few, the truth is most do the best they can with what they have to work with |
