Can men and women be 'just friends'?

Jump to: Newest in thread

After a big fall out with an fb, I've realised that I don't have any male friends (apart from gay guys) where the relationship hasn't been sexual at some point, either at my instigation or theirs.

Made me feel a little sad...

So just as devils advocate, can men and women have a purely platonic friendship?

It's a tricky one.

Just make sure your male friends are mingers?

Absolutely. I have loads of guy friends. Who aren't gay and I have never slept with them. Purely platonic. It's wonderful.

Obviously, just be friends with ugly guys or ugly girls, problem solved. Although the ugly girls might still not be a problem for most of the straight male population of the planet

I have platonic friendships with women. It's easy.

Totally. My best mate of 9 years were male. We did absolutely everything together, even gossip.. But sadly he passed away several years ago!

I tend to form better friendships with guys if honest. Probably stems back to being young and hanging out with my brothers n their mates!

I have a number of good female friends are are just friends. When I was 19 I had a very good and close female friend but one night we went out after both having ended a relationship and ended up in bed and it pretty much killed our friendship

Although I will add, that I'm bi and friends with other bi ladies yet that's never caused an issue?

I had a good friend and he always said to me " women can have male friends, men have women they haven't fucked yet" I don't know if that is true or not but going on my instinct I think there is some truth in that.

So the ones with GF's are happy that you both pop out to the movies together alone on a Friday night - and roll back home Saturday morning ?

I went to an all girls school and then a state sixth form college so talking to The Boys aged 16 was quite hard for me: I've always had female friends. But guys are also cool, and now I work with a few I can say yes, I can be friends without it being sexual. Of course there is the odd innuendo but I definitely don't want to fuck any of them!!!

Yes; I have mostly female freinds and hardly any male freinds.

My two best freinds are women.

I've only got one or two male friends, I'm much more of a woman's woman. But they are platonic friends and will always be.

Impossible - how many hot hunks do you see with ugly girls as they are just "friends"

Ugly girl - hot Hunk friend can you pop round with a DVD and a bottle of wine, it's my period and I need cheering up

Hot hunk - sure I will bring over Bridget Jones

have had mixed experience with this over the years when lines get blurred - the good friends stay as friend+, others may not and others the lines have never been blurred!

Yes, I have many more male friends, I love 'em, and I like the fact that there is a frisson with many of them, it makes the friendship even more appealing to me.
