Who is the most ignorant?
Jump to: Newest in thread
No one is obliged to reply to any message, let alone an unsolicited one (read the FAQs).
Do you think it's ignorant to fail to reply to all the unsolicited junk mail and flyers pushed through your letterbox?
But I do think it's ignorant and lazy for people to mail someone when they obviously haven't read their profile. |

Those who don't read profiles, it shows a complete disregard for any preferences the other party may have.
Unsolicited mail can be deleted, there is no obligation to reply, and fab guidelines here do highlight that no reply means no interest, although I suppose expecting people to read site guidelines if they don't read profiles..... |

I do try to respond to most and have spent the last few hours giving a master class in the value of reading profiles prior to messaging to several dozen men (not being sexist, it just so happens that they were all men).
Most thanked me for the advice, I doubt they'll take the blindest bit of notice though.
Some persisted, even after being gently pointed in the direction of my profile, so sadly the block button was deployed. |

We do want and try to respond to all male because we feel it's the polite thing to do but it's just so bloody irritating when it's obvious they haven't took a moment to read your profile |

"Reading profiles does appear to be a dieing art sadly." I used to reply to every message for politeness reasons but sometimes elicits the "but why aren't I what you want " responses so often easier not to

I notice many people give a random word at the end of the profile as the subject title. I think this is a great idea, you can instantly see who has read the profile and hasn't, even before opening the message. |

I would think it's the person or persons who didn't read the profile properly in the first place.
I do tend to reply to those that message, to those that I'm not interested in with a thanks but no thanks, usually pointing out I am straight. But depending on the message I may just delete without reply. |

I'm here for cpls & females but whenever they dont read or reply to mail I go for the ahhhh never mind stance
From having cpls/fems as reg friends I'm aware they get peppered with mail so reading all, replying to all 24-7 is not possible. So with genuine's in mind it's not always ignorance.

Understand but we're adults here it just seems a bit childish putting say "cheese in your message to prove you have read our profile " |

Sadly, when you're dealing with so many immature individuals, this is the level to which you have to stoop to try to them out. |

My profile is quite short so no excuse not to read. I'm quite specific what I want so anybody that ignores the requirements will get the same treatment. |

I don't need a code word to tell when someone hasn't read my profile and I really want to resist having a load of rules and demands on my profile because if wouldn't reflect the sort of person that I am. |

The childish part of me would purposely reply without the code word.

"I try read profiles but some are so long i think it would be quicker read war and piece . Do people make them long to put people off .? "
No it's to try to explain to people exactly what there looking for most profiles take 20 minutes to rite or more but only 2 minuets to read (no matter how long they are ) so I believe if people spend time writing them people should do have the courtesy to read them. It really is that simple |

Surely they won't know you cheekily left out their code word. They'll just delete your message unread for not having the code word. |

That's my point, I wouldn't conform to that kind of request But if others want to then so be it.
Having a code word proves someone has read your profile, whether they've actually read it properly or not is another matter. I would suggest if it's a long one they probably skim read it to find the coding.

This. All the bloody time. One was so angry at my suggestion, I got a tirade of abuse back and he informed me that I was blocked. I even heard him stamp his foot as he did it |

Ignorant would be the people not replying.
The ones not reading profiles I'd call lazy, like me. Profile text bores me,I prefer to talk to someone to see if there's any attraction. I got bored writing my own profile text; which probably shows. |

I'm the embodiment of politeness. But if we are looking to meet and our profile says "fit local guys under 30 for meet this afternoon"
and an out of shape 56 yr old from 200 miles away sends a message saying " come to mine a suck me off" then I make no apology for deleting it without answering. Why should i waste my time on that nonsense. |

In all honesty a lot of people don't read profiles.
It's a shame but we just have to get over it and move on.
People ask for a face picture and don't reply , so that's why any image I send is deleted once read. |

You haven't set your filters to block over 30s from messaging you. Is that laziness, ignorance or something else? The body type you have no control over and someone who thinks they are fit may not be,according to you. In that case you send a polite no thank you? |

we so tend to set filters as I don't like them in general and we would be changing them all the time as our desires change.
And fit was only one part of our request. Local and under 30 is not particularly subjective. You are or your not. |

And the crux of the problem is, with all false modesty set aside, if we are on a new town at a hotel we can easily get 200 messages in a day. There isn't time to spend over three hours answering them all politely when most have either not read the profile or read it and ignored it. |

Definitely people who message without reading the profile text. I used to feel guilty about deleting messages without replying. Now I don't. I don't have a long profile but I prefer to see who I'm chatting to. |

I totally agree, this is a site to fulfill fun n fantasy. There's no polite way to decline. You either reply and get abuse or don't reply and get abuse.
It's important to read profiles. I had a married man messaging me and mine says no cheats. I'm size 18 and some people don't like plus size so I read to not waste our time. |

"Our profile asks to include a face picture on first message. This happens about 5% off the time. If they include one they don't get a reply. "
I hope you meant "those that don't include a picture don't get a reply"
I tend to always include a face pic with messages regardless of if it's been asked for or not...it's just habit as in my mind, thats the first question isn't it..ok I got mail, who's it from and am I attracted to them....
someone else made a point about deleting or blocking - I tend to send a nice mail - bit of an intro and then if that mail is opened but not replied to or straight deleted, then I block that user - what I don't want, is to re-mail someone who is not interested...works for me... |

We like to think our profile shows what we want and who we are...It includes a specific word (not at the end though) and we ask for a face pic. We read every message...We try to reply to everyone who we can see has read our profile. We usually delete every message that has clearly not read any of our profile unless I am feeling devilish and start playing word games or being facetious or sarcastic. We only block serial messagers or those that become abusive as we enjoy people being able to see (and fab) our pics. We think the more effort people put in the more interest they get in return. |

So the consensus is
Not reading profile = ignorant
Deleting those that have not read profile = entirely reasonable behaviour.
Thank god for that. I was beginning to worry I might not be very model of polite correctness. |

I truly don't get this "polite thing to do" stance. When visible my profile clearly states what I'm looking for. It also says I'll not respond to anyone outwith what I'm looking for. Therefore, if my preferences are ignored I certainly don't spend a nanosecond on them let alone get irritated: who needs the drama? |
