A debate! In 2016 - what is a 'real' swinger?

Hello my lovelies!

I really enjoyed the age debate - hopefully many of you did too.

The phrase 'real swingers' and 'not real swingers' is oft bandied about on the forums.

It's clearly evolved significantly from the old 'keys in the ashtray ' days (if those days ever existed!)

But after years of websites, clubs etc what is a swinger NOW?

If you have to be a couple to be a swinger - what about when those couples swing separately? Do they stop being swingers and become 2 people who just sleep around?

And what about the singles that many couples like to play with? Are we swingers? Or just 'ad on's?'

I'd be really interested to know what people think a 'modern' swinger is - but let's keep it as a debate please - no nastiness or I'll get my whip and paddle out!

I personally think swinger is shorthand for "enjoys casual sex with people they don't know very well in numbers from two upwards". This can range from a brief one off encounter to a longer relationship but I truly don't believe swinging is morally or socially any different to just enjoying casual sex.

Thanks!

Sounds reasonable to me!

What!!! Who are you calling reasonable!?

I fear your thread fell foul of the Mrs N bring a thread to a halt with just one post curse.

I'm an old school swinger, I have lots of unplanned sex with many partners. Either singularly or with lots.

But as my profile name - fuck slut.

I believe swingers are people (single or otherwise) who embrace the lifestyle (as opposed to just being here for NSA shags). I mean things like clubs, parties, socials, camping weekends (), even dogging. Its a lifestyle which includes shagging, with any luck.

I'd go with your description - only I'm giving dogging a miss - don't fancy a cold arse!

I tend to agree with that. I certainly don't consider a single person joining a website to find other people to shag swinging.

How accepted are the modern swingers these days in the wider world?

This exactly! It's not just NSA bonking.

Also think (well, hope) swingers are more open minded about sex, sexuality, gender, polyamory, kink and sharing nicely

its whatever works for you...

as a single person on here I wouldn't class myself as a swinger, but I am someone who enjoys sex so I may as well look for others who enjoy it too, and who also may not be swingers.

To me, swinging is about enjoying the lifestyle. But that means actually meeting people and having some level of sex (soft, kinky whatever).

Swinging is not just being on a swingers site and only chatting or meeting for a social only.

That is just an adult facebook!

We don't really give a damn about what labels people want to attach to us. Our kids have left the coop and we're going to have fun before we get too old and wrinkly, Sometimes its singles fun, sometimes its clubs, sometimes its solo fun. But fun it is and we dont care what it's called!

When my wives and myself were swinging, we held parties but called them 'group meets'. Wedid this because so many parties we went to had a good 50% of the people just sat and chatted/ate/ drank. They could of been anywhere.

50% of the rest just went from room to room perving but never playing.

So at ours the rules were simple. Everyone had to join in to some degree. Clothes off and have fun. Never do anything you are uncomfortable in but its a swingers meet not a social!

NEVER had any problems getting guests lol.

I'd agree with that. Although rhe social side is important too, I got told we were doing swinging "wrong" as I wanted to go to a club to have sex rather than just chat.

I haven't found swingers very open or accepting of kink though if ita anything more than a quick spank. Had some right nasty off putting comments in the dungeons of swing clubs

It is what you want it to be. It's s jolly broad term which is interpreted in a variety of ways by different people. Fortunately, in a world this diverse, there's room for everyone to make of it what they will and enjoy as they choose to.
