closer than you think |
"Sir Francis Dashwood’s notorious Hellfire Club met for its orgies at Medmenham Abbey near wycombe"
Hellfire Caves were excavated in West Wycombe in 18th century and used instead of Medmenham Abbey |

"Too many hills
Ain't that the truth "
I often use that route from Bedford to Reading to avoid the M25. What is that massive hill you drive up just after the roundabout near the Wycombe Swan Theatre? |

I know exactly the one you mean, not sure what the road is called as I refer to as a bitch of a hill |

(...Nothing like a newbie reviving an old topic eh?)
Been living in Wycombe for 12 years now. It's pretty much made of hill. West Wycombe is home to the Hellfire Caves and and all the stories connected to them, including the story of Suki who was accidentally killed in or near the caves. She is said to haunt the George & Dragon pub... which always has a good selection of local beer on.
Someone mentioned the White Horse... No, just no!! |

"Is there a low Wycombe.
Nope, but there's a Wycombe Heights
A decent golf course there as I recall"
That's the one. I'm watching The Masters at the moment which made me think of it. |

"We live about 20 mins drive from Wycombe and apparently high Wycombe is for some reason the main place in bucks for adultery haha "
I saw that on FB (...so it must be true lol!) My first thought was that maybe those in Wycombe who were asked were more honest than those from elsewhere |

"I used to go to the cinema there as a teenager. It had a multiplex don't you know! Ooo "
The Wycombe Six -I think it was one of the first multiplex cinemas! It's still there run by Empire. more screens than the original six now and I believe there are expansion plans too.
There's also a cinema in the town centre, part of the 'Eden Centre' |
