hi there was just wondering what do people prefer for first contact would you rather have a nice polite message or a subtle wink to show interest?

perhaps its cos we are shy, but we like to wink first, then if we get a response we will send a message.

Suppose we dont like to be seen as pushy.

we see winks as the lazy option but then again we do get a lot of copy n pastes too.

a short message is better

I like winks there just a wolf whistle to gauge interest, if someone winked you at a club etc and you liked them would you ignore them

"Hello, my name is Invictus and I am a winkaholic. "

I've noticed!

I like winks though, receiving and sending them, sometime with a mate that's all you need, not 14 sentences.

Either is fine with me providing there's a genuine interest. A wink is like a smile, or a nod and a hello. It's a nice way to break the ice.

Those who say it's lazy simply don't want the effort of having to write a message themselves, but some could see that as lazy too.

My other half gets lots of messages, lots of which are 'fancy a meet' 'I've got a big cock' 'I've got 10 inches, fancy some?' kind of messages. How are they any better than a wink from a genuine and polite person?

Obviously to each their own but I don't have a problem with either. It's the person on the other end that's important.

I like winks as a gentle show of possible interest. I always look at them and sometimes wink back or sometimes a short message.

I also sometimes send a wink to show interest as I'm not really sure what to write - a random "how are you" sometimes seems a little odd to me.

Here occasionally, but mostly somewhere else

I tend to reply in kind - I'll return a wink if I'm not uninterested. Oddly, winkers tend not to respond to that - I think they must expect me to send them a message...?

Short messages get short replies, interesting messages get considered responses.

I vote for a message. It's nice to have it in words. You can get a feel for people more.

I think winks are like a glance across a crowed room. Will i glance back? Who makes first contact? Did they even see it in the first place? What do you say?

Yep, a message is nicer!

I ignore all winks and unsolicited friends invites, however, I am likely to respond to a message providing it is not a crass one-liner.
