Skype, kik, and others

I have often seen people talking about kik and other things similar but I can't understand why more people don't just get Skype it's free u can do so many things with it, talk to each other in real time and see each other as well, all the others are recording and such like

Perhaps they do use Skype also but prefer other ways of chatting, especially if busy or at work in a break where skyping might not be convenient?

Why the bloody hell would I want to talk to somebody who can see me?

I'm not really acceptable to be seen whenever people decide to call me up

Kik is good because you don't have to give over personal details like phone number etc. Its just a user name like snapchat

You don't give personal stuff for Skype just have a user name

Can Skype do group chat? We use kik because of that feature

I use Skype for business. I do not want wanky men on business account knowing all my details and when I'm online.

I also have no desire to video call or VOIP call with people. I prefer to send text based messages so that I can do other things at the same time. I also don't want people off sex sites to monopolise my time in this way.

And basically, I just like chatting through text. It suits me. I enjoy it.

You can separate all your calls and work and block anyone you want

I had a guy only yesterday tell me that I didn't know guys properly as I preferred to kik rather than ring. He didn't consider the possibility that people prefer communicating in the way that suits them.

I use kik and Skype love kik have some great friends there only just started Skype but is fun with the right person

Prefer to use kik. Much more private and its free when on unlimited wifi as well as allowing pics to be sent and videos

Then I don't know how to do this.

I can see no way of giving my skype ID out to people without then seeing my name, business details, and if I'm online or not (I'm always online on it - it's my main phone for my business).

I know I can run two copies of skype with some she'll programming, but it gets overly complicated and tends to cause them to fall over. Which makes things difficult.

I don't Skype because I have things to do so messaging is easier and doesn't take up so much of my time.

I also don't like being put in the spotlight like that, I don't like phone calls for the same reason, it makes me feel awkward and shy.
