I have just returned on here after a break and am increasingly becoming frustrated by timewasters. Are there any genuine people out there and what is the best way to make friends? I don't want to spam the site with emails. |

Agree with Imalady i am afraid, your age may not necessarily help you but there are plenty that will, you just need to be patient and always read profiles |

Get yourself in the chat rooms, be polite, be respectful, be yourself and chat...dont use them to ask for meets, use them to get to know people. Any you feel a 'connection' with, private mail them. Keeping it out the room shows discretion
Keep in eye on the forums and see if there are any socials coming up, thats probably the best way of meeting new folk.
Good luck

Hi guys thanks for the feedback and advice. To be honest I don't push fir meets as I want to get to know singles/couples at first. Certainly age does go against me though.
I will definatley jump on the chat room though. If you see me say hi. |

I've been doing this for three years. During that time I've yet to encounter a timewaster...not once!
Then again, my definition of a timewaster may not be the same as yours. Have I spoken to people and the conversation has dried up? Yes. Have I arranged to meet and they've cancelled? Yes. Have I had problems getting them to talk on the phone? Yes. Have I been unble to get them to firm up a social meet? Yes. Do I class that as time wasting? No.
Have I ever arranged a meet, turned up and the other person has not been there? No...if the answer to that had been yes, then that to me would have been a time waster. |

Bingo!!! that's how we see it.
We got called timewasters by a couple a few days ago.... why? They messaged us looking for a meet, we looked at their profile and thought we were looking for different things... We messaged them back saying "thanks, but no thanks" ....we get a message back saying "you are timewasters anyway"..... eh???? |

It's easy to tell the genuine folk from the timewatsers.... the genuine ones turn up.

I have been on this site since the early days when it had very few members.I get the impression strongly that there are more timewasters on it now,as a proportion of total members, than at any time in its history. |

May be you get the 'impression' because the current trend seems to be a lot of folk labelling anyone and everyone a timewaster.

Define timewaster.
If it's won't meet you or started chatting but then it tailed off, then I'd have to say, let's agree to disagree. |

Well it certainly looks like I have started a debate.. For me a timewaster can be different things and I suppose I can only talk about my experiences.
Increasingly I have experienced people who are in relationships with their partner not knowing, agreeing to meet and cancelling at last minute with no explanation and belive it or not someone posing as someone they are not. Maybe I have just been a bit unlucky since returning but didn't experience this previously.
Anyway if anyone wants to get in touch privately feel free lol |

We have had to cancel a meet fairly late (not less than 3 hrs before as we recall)due to a work issue, we were branded as timewasters by the guy on his profile!!
sometimes stuff happens, it has to us and we allways give the benefit of the doubt if we get a reason.
unlike this thu when a guy did the old 'not answering text or email' trick and left us hanging.
and still has not.
thats who we call a timewaster.

Sassymissuk-I didn't know they are were in a relationship, hence I pulled the plug when I found out. I have been cheated on in the past and it's gut renching. I couldn't be on the otherside knowing what it feels like |

I think it is easier on here for single female and couples. For single guys think it is completely a different story. I gave age cone up quite regularly. Whether that is another way if being polite and saying your not their type that's another thing . |

Your post states they cancelled with no explanation not that you cancelled: so I repeat, you have some nerve! |

No misssassy your not reading the email correctly. They have either cancelled a meet, another was in a relationship and clearly not telling the truth so I blocked them before a meet was ever arranged. Your the one with the cheek. Clearly reading the context of the email incorrectly and having a go |

There's no ambiguity in the above statement as far as I'm concerned. It's YOUR statement...not me putting words into your mouth. It clearly states does it not that people in a relationship without their partners consent have agreed to meet you THEN cancelling without explaination!
It's not me "having a go" or reading things out of context, English is my mother tongue and I have an excellent understanding of it.
If however, it's not yours, then I apologise as it's easy to make a mistake and your English is far superior to my understanding of double Dutch!
