Have always wondered why folks take risks such as barebacking strangers ?

It does feel better without a rubber but...

Why take such a risk though?

You could catch anything literally

Is the RISK worth taking ?

Barebackers?????

Another bareback thread, do you know exactly what the risks are.

I mean the actual stats rather than the general russian roulette rubbish spouted on such threads.

What is the risk for a heterosexual mand and the risks for a hetrosexual woman?

What are the risks for a Bis sexual of either sex?

What are the risks when anal sex is involved and what risks when no anal sex is involved.

If we need another bareback thread lets make it informative.

London and France

Please dont start this again!

These bareback threads just turn into two camps ;

1. "It's crazy and irresponsible and you shouldn't do it "

2. "It's none of your business and I'll do what I like"

There: that summarises about the next 100 posts that could be put on the thread.

Statistically flu kills far more in the uk than HIV to be fair

HIV prevalence just over 100000 in the UK, two thirds male

Just over 6000 new diagnoses per year, 70% of these are men that have sex with men or black African males

Always amuses me how people indulging in a high risk activity saddle up and mount their moral high horses because others take more risk than them.

It's akin to Lewis Hamilton castigating Valentino Rossi for going too fast on his bike because he has "protection" in his fibreglass car!

Doesn't matter what the combination is, its greater risk of stds/stis and pregnancy

I'll tell you how we feel .

Would we like to get it ?

No

Will we stop performing unprotected oral ?

No

Yes it's a risk , but one we are prepared to take .

It may well be that over the next few years more people will only do protected oral , but we won't be meeting them .

There's a saying something like if it ain't no fun , there's no point doing it . And that's how we feel about dental dams , femidoms and condoms for oral .

Most people do not die from aids, unless a pre-existing serious health proble. I is generally contained- I have friends diagnosed from 1008, still living nornally. It is Government policy to egg it up. Car deaths are far more prevelent.

Oral sex without protection has always been and will always remain a risky activity

It is less risky than vaginal sex which is less risky than anal sex

The least risky is no sex

People who demonise those who have unprotected vaginal sex are kidding themselves when they have unprotected oral sex. They could too be potentials carriers of HIV and other STIs

"600 people die of aids in uk each year on average there is no cure for aids"

How many people die in car accidents? No cure for that either.

Apart from AIDS, STIs are reasonably easy to cure with antibiotics. The problem is when we pass them along, as we do with colds, flu, glandular fever, and many many other diseases that don't come with a sneer when spoken of.

Yes, they're not nice, and yes, you should wear a condom. But you should also get tested regularly as wearing condoms alone won't keep you safe from infection.

That would be a personal issue, nothing to do with protected sex for others- I don't care what married men do- if they tell me they are single, thats up to them- I don't adjust my lifestyle because there are 'cheaters' out there- forget the condom- better look at the problems in your marriage- I am not in it.lol

There's rather a difference between having unprotected sex with someone you trust, who you're in a secure relationship with to bring up a child... and fucking random strangers on swingers sites.

Lets hope not too many people are using fabs as a fertility clinic.

Hmmm...we thought the whole point of this lifestyle/pastime/interest whatever you want to call it was fun.

We neither condone nor condemn those who choose to bareback (fortunately it's still a free world, and there is choice here) but think the fire and brimstone rants go a bit over the top

It's a pity the subject seems to cloud any ability to lighten up, laugh and live and let live, even a little ...

Just recently I attended a house party with about 10-12 couples and additional 6-8 single guys with a female friend. One of the wives of a couple was engaging in bareback sex with 5 or 6 guys letting them all creampie her while the husband watched and was telling other guys to join. We were both disgusted by this and left without engaging in anything. Not sure what this couple was thinking or the guys having sex. All we heard was cheering her on. Really nasty but that's my opinion.

"Just recently I attended a house party with about 10-12 couples and additional 6-8 single guys with a female friend. They were clearly taking a risk, having never attended a creampie party not one I've done, but I respect t their right to take that risk for something they enjoy

Others do the same with smoking, excessive drinking, poor diet etc, all of what are probably worse in terms of mortality than HIV

As long as people know the risks, and freely choose to take them, that's their business

Although condoms are probably the least effective of the modern contraceptives in terms of the pregnancy rate using them

Did they know each other in advance / have a vetting process? It's not an uncommon fantasy for a lot of people, it's more the practical side of things that presents a problem

Absolutely hormones don't suit everyone, and of course even though condoms aren't the best these days they're still a mile better than not using them pregnancy wise!

No form of contraception is 100% though you can get pregnant on the any.

Shocked by how some folks think.

It's not about right or wrong, it's not about choice nor is it about fun either.

It's about morales, it's about being responsible. It's the principle one should stand by. I'm not being judgemental, but when someone stands there and watches 5 strangers cum in his wife...? I question their mental wellbeing

I was just curious because the only way I've ever imagined a 'safe' gangbang was with a lot of semi-regular partners. Doesn't sound like the case here though, tut tut

I treat both as they were riddled with disease and I therefore insist they use condoms

The ones who I am really careful about are the ones who keep on demonising those who have unprotected sex. As far as I am concerned, they could be trying on reverse psychology; a bit like the bible-bashers; most are the most dreadful people on the planet

I think you are being judgemental. If this couple enjoy this and the participants understood what they wanted then why get disgusted. Walk away.. Its not like she held a loaded gun to the males heads is it. They knew what was going on.

If people want to bareback then fine. If other people insist on sti test results and full protection then no issue. If said person doesn't fit with your own values then it's quite simple. You don't fuck them!

Some people are very excitable.

Funny how we miss the point when we become opinionated.

The question was "is the risk worth taking considering the dangers?"

There is no right or wrong here it's a matter of choice we get that......

I didn't ask what opinions people have on barebacking.

Actually female sterilization is (I think) the least effective modern contraceptive.

But it's still only 1 in 200 women that have a failure on it. (That's not 1 in every 200 times you have sex, that's 1 in even 200 women who gets sterilized will get pregnant.)

I'm a contraceptive provider and usually any failures in hormonal or sterilisation procedures are due to the woman already being pregnant at the time of the procedure!

Anyway aside from pregnancy I believe safe sex is important unless you're in a trusted environment.

Over 1,700 are killed in RTAs each year. Should we ban driving to.

It's not for me to be in favour or against bareback sex for others. It's their lives and their risk but trying to instill paranoia and fear in people by misrepresenting the facts or quoting them out of context seldom leads to a sensible discussion of anything.

Your post reads like they don't specify, so you just chance it and 'stick it in' bare without their knowledge.

If they're expecting protection, your actions could be considered sexual assault.

Proactive consent is the way forward. Don't just 'stick it in' and see if you get resistance.

Obviously most folks don't practice what they preach......

Errr pretty sure this comment totally contradicts your original post. It looks to me that you don't practice what you preach.

He must be running at 8 out of 10 at least tho. Too as validity to his science he should of had his top in all 10 before 3 said no.

You gotta make these sacrifices for science.

I can admit to both safe and bare in both vanilla and swinging worlds it is the hypocrisy that gets me.

Why don't we just let people enjoy their lives how they wish.

People who bareback are not breaking the law it's not a crime.

I for one won't be condemning or breaching to anyone.

If you bareback good on you if you don't bareback good on you to, its all your own choice.

Very interesting thread, I find it funny how people compare accidents while driving to STI's there are far more people driving than there are having sex not everyone that gets infected gets reported but I'm sure every accident does due to insurance. Think what we should be asking is has the number of reported AIDS / STI's increased along with the popularity of swinging.

A question I often ask my self is how safe is this lifestyle, has anyone from fab become infected, if they had would they take the moral high road and stop playing as well as inform previous partners. I always play safe while swinging but know it's not the case with everyone. I don't expect a reply just a thought.

It just seems that way because only a few are licenced to have sex

But if you add up all the unlicensed people having sex you find that there is more sex going on than than there is driving

I was informed via Kik by a recent meet on fab (August actually) that she had been contacted by a previous meet regarding him being positive for gonnoreah....thanks to her for that. We have both since been tested and both all clear.....there is certainly stuff out there!

But I will not judge. Each to there own and look after your own safety to whatever level you see as appropriate to the circumstances!

I was thinking he's really underestimating the amount of sex going on as well!

And driving isn't safe, we have over 1700 killed each year and over 21000 seriously injured

So think on, every time you get in your car you're playing Russian roulette

I sort of see his point. I don't have safe sex ticked on my profile as i practise unsafe oral sex. So I'm open to lots of STIs (although only if i actually met people obviously!) i see lots that have "safe sex" ticked though, and i bet they never rubber up for oral!

They might but only if you also pay the back-dated premiums too; otherwise, you a just a couple of unlicensed sexies

".....

That might seem that way at first but what you have to remember is that those people driving are probably doing so everyday some times 2 to 3 times a day making it a greater risk, the amount of people having unprotected sex might be high but I can guarantee they will not be having sex with multiple partners as frequently as those people driving every day. It's not the total amount of people but rather the frequency they participate in dangerous activities. So in my example there are far more instances of people driving dangerously either with or with out licences than there are instances of people having unprotected sex with strangers.

Thing is when you meet people for sex (doesn't have to be strangers) it's a calculated risk.

Have attempted to stick it in without a Johnny many times with no resistance at all.

Errrr if condoms have been agreed before hand what youve just worte there is that you have attempted rape many times. (And seemingly succeed on some occasions )

So you start a thread about why anyone would risk not using condoms then you admit you have reguarly attempted to stick your dick in women with no condom on

Wtf?"

If people mutually decide to bareback that is their decision. However, anybody tried that ^ to me they'd get a slap to the face if not a punch in the balls! I've been with guys who have said they use condoms then wanted to bareback in person. I refuse and make it foreplay only. Its appalling to just stick it in and hope they don't notice.

I will admit though that I don't always practise oral safe sex. However, my personal choice to mitigate the risks is I never allow people to cum in my mouth.

Let's not get into the "what's rape debate". Nowhere do I specify using a condom was agreed on. I stated that their profile indicated Safe Sex !

If either party insists on using a condom then the act is performed without.

I'm mentioning the obvious.

I obviously wouldn't attempt penetration without protection if an agreement has been agreed on before hand.

FYI I never said I was against BB, I asked for opinions.

That's unfortunate, I think coming clean and informing people would be the right thing to do. But I can see why people would have treated him unfairly it's human nature to treat people unfairly when they are scared. I sometimes feel that this particular topic should be brought up more frequently or at least acknowledge, I haven't looked but probably a good idea for a sticky or new forum in the advice section on what to do if someone is ever diagnosed.

Very true none of us need to have sex with strangers to be at risk, but it does happen and it's the life style a few of us follow.

Others do the same with smoking, excessive drinking, poor diet etc, all of what are probably worse in terms of mortality than HIV

As long as people know the risks, and freely choose to take them, that's their business "

Having HIV does in no way affect mortality if you are on medication.

Also. NO ONE dies from HIV and no one dies of AIDS. Illness related to AIDS yes, if that person has not taken medication.

It is also worth pointing out, if a person living ith HIV and is on medication, the likelihood of transmission is SO unlikely that doctors would not offer PrEp to a negative partner after bareback sex. There a quite a fewpeople who would rather sleep with someone positive and on meds than take the risk of a random.

Still amazed at the lack of knowledge surrounding HIV. Get the facts, and get tested.

Would you get in a car with a d*unk driver?

What if that driver was a stranger?

I compare it to drink driving as we all have either driven or caught a lift with a person while d*unk.

That might be true and their choice, but when it comes to informing people of the risks would you say they have a obligation to inform people of their HIV status even if the risk of passing it on is minimal?

I understand that bareback is a risk and a choice but if one of the people has hidden their HIV status surely they are allowing the other person to make an uninformed choice. I would not choose to sleep with a person that has HIV or an STI even with protection.

Nobody is obligated to tell you or anyone else, anything whatsoever

It is up to each one of us to remain safe. And if that for you means that you do not want to risk having even protected sex with someone who is a HIV carrier (or any other STI), then you may be better off not ever having sex ever with anyone

Crossing the road and getting into a car with a d*unk driver are two different things. I take it by your response you would happily get into a strangers car with a driver that has d*unken excessively.
