Hello people....
I am consodering having a vasectomy.
I have done my bit for for the country and have my fair share of children. I do not want and will not have anymore....
i am just curious on other peoples views on this and also i am interested what guys have experienced that have had the procedure e.g. pros and cons.

Had it done. Played football the next day. No hassle
Even pulled the stitches out myself.
You have a sperm test after 10 and 12 weeks or something like that.

We'll I got it years ago. I'm going to tel u at least u can relax with ur partner won't have any worries about making her pregnant . That's no 1 no 2 getting it done u won't feel anything untill afterward it like been kicked bye a mule u go black n blue all over all around ur nether regions n u will b walking quer like u got a kick in d goolies . It will take about a fortnite to revover . It might b different now but not sure ok |

No, I think he's just asking for views from people who may have either considered it, or had it done.
It's one of those areas where your head tells you "it'll be fine, they're experts, all very professional, no worries at all" while your testicles are just screaming "ARRRRRRGGGGGHHHHH NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO".
Fortunately in our case Mrs ddc misunderstood me when I brought the subject up, and ended up having it done herself. I never really felt the need to clarify what I had meant....
(Well, my head thought I should, but my balls just went "Shhhhhhh, don't say a word...."

Had my done over 10 years ago, took away all the stress & chances of another child appearing. Had no regrets, but if your age is correct I would wait a couple of years. I knew a guy who has it done after 2 kids, then got divorced & hooked up with a younger woman, she wanted kids, so he had it reversed, 5 years later had it done again. After that he had 'problems'. |

don't mess with what nature has given you and you don't know what the future holds ,a relative had it done and then married my niece and couldn't get it reversed |

I was knocked out for mine as my balls are small. Was given a suppository that lasted 24 hours.

My age is as it should be but believe me i have had my fair share of children and will not want any more and if i was to meet a woman who wanted to settle down and wanted kids off me i would set it in stone prior to anything that i am not having any more children. 4 is enough for me! |

Had mine done 14 years ago no regrets
Done at a clinic in and out in less than an hour bit sore and achey for 24 hrs after that no probs .no lifting for two weeks after was only restriction .sperm tests after a couple of months to check if worked no dramas . |

Took my friend about a week to recover.
Don't listen to people who say "you might want another one". If you know you don't want anymore children then you know. (I was steralised at 29 and got fed up of people telling me I might change my mind). |

It's surgery and so there are risks. Everyones story will be different.
For most it will be fine, some will regret it some are playing footy the next day others take longer. Nervous systems are funny so a snip in the same place on a different person will have different results.
There are some men who have to live with constant pain after getting it done.
Like I say different for everyone, for me it was a week or so of soreness and I've been fine, but I knew the odds before playing. I was prepared to have pain if it gave the wife time off the chemicals as she had done her bit and the longer she had to take the pill the greater her risks would become.
So like anything it's not risk free. On the whole you'll be fine it's a quick in and out job. But if you are unlucky can you live with the risks? |

I also thought that it was a good idea, didn't want any more kids etc so had my vasectomy 20 years ago ...... and had it reversed last year! You really don't know whats around the corner,in the years since I have divorced and remarried a gorgeous girl who is 22 years younger than me and I would absolutely love to have a child with her .... Make your decision carefully |

Hi, had it done, no pain at anytime, I wanted put to sleep for the procedure, woke up had a slice of toast and felt great.
Peace of mind that you're firing blanks.
I hung the certificate over my bed when I got the all clear, wife didn't get the joke. Jim  |

Had mine done a few years ago like others here i was put under a general anesthetic and all i can say is best thing iv ever done i had very little swelling and bruising pain was very little for a day or 2
I know a chap that was in the same time as me but he was awake for his and was in so much pain he could barely walk for a fortnight and things didnt work as they should for a month or so

Was snipped about 6 years ago. Local anaesthetic, nurse shaved my balls (after I'd done a rubbish job of them myself), chatted to nurse as surgeon did the deed, went home shortly afterwards. I was a little sore but nothing too bad. Follow up test a few months later to confirm I was sperm-free.
Was a very simple procedure.

FWIW - if I had the choice I'd go for local anaesthetic. I had general anaesthetic last year and I didn't really recover from it properly for 4-5 months. |

I had mine done on the NHS in September. It was done in a doctors surgery with local anaesthetic. They even asked the good lady if she wanted to watch! She politely declined and sat reading her novel the other side of the curtain! It was uncomfortable but not painful. A dull ache for about two days, but paracetamol took that away. That was it really. I've got the sperm test next month and in February.. I can't wait to not have to worry about condoms and such like when with the good lady.
Only problem? The sperm test. Does she help me with it and if so how will she aim it into the tiny pot they gave me? This could be like Ronnie Barker and the urine test in Porridge! |

Had the snip about 15 years ago, had my children and knew i didn't want anymore. Just felt it was better than my partner being on the pill.
No complications, and i got my hand stroked by a nurse during the procedure - can't believe i didn't get an erection, that would normally work! |

I had mine done earlier this year. I got myself so worked up about it I nearly chickened out. Had it done at gps and I honestly don't know what I had worked myself up about. Was a doddle. Even walked out laughing and joking. Quite sore for a couple of days but nothing that good painkillers didn't work on. Had my sperm test down and got the all clear. Would defiantly recommend having it done. |

Been done, and my advise is ask if they are using a Scapel or laser. I was expecting to be sliced, but when the laser started crackling I was concerned. Then you see smoke rising from your balls and your brain knows that's not right. Then you smell your burnt scrotum and no pain killer in the world can tell your brain that that doesn't hurt! |

Had one after my Dad (77 year old at the time)and his wife had a child.
Went in got knocked out woke up hour or so later with no pain.
Next day went walking around a huge automotive race equipment show.
Did feel a little weird several weeks later but of course somewhat erotic going into the ladies clinic to announce I was here for a wank. Of course had abstained for a week well hydrated to ensure I provided plenty to sample. Kind of strange being escorted by a good looking nurse to the room to watch porn look at mags (thankfully no pages stuck together) and then walk out with my sample feeling everyone is staring at you. Nice smile from the nurse as I handed in my sample, so that part was a good laugh and the text messages while there from female friends playing it up!

I have had both a vasectomy and a reversal. Vasectomy was done under local anaesthetic. It is a little surreal chatting to a nurse while the surgeon is attending to your tackle! Reversal was done under general and while the op was straightforward enough, I was unfortunate enough to get a secondary infection, so complete recovery was closer to a month. Not to mention one bollock being the size of a space hopper!  |

Had mine snipped after the 4th, sort of felt it was time to man up.
Went the local route , all shaved and good to go when I mentioned I lost consciousness when giving blood ..... he said get dressed you'll need a general, did that no bother , just did as instructed with the tight pants and was soon good to go.
One point, peeps comment that I cum heavy - I find that surprising as there is no sperm added to my fluids, maybe there's an expert can explain |

Until science comes up with a male contraceptive pill, it's the next best thing (next to condoms) if you know in your heart you never want more kids!
And ps there are women out there who also wouldn't want a child so you don't have to keep your options open in a new relationship! |

Had mine done about 18 years ago. Had it done under a local in hospital, chatted to the surgeon as he operated. Never felt a thing.
Told to avoid heavy lifting for a week or so. Sore for a day. Plenty of sex/wanking to clean your tubes out before the follow up test.
Not had any problems since having had it done. |

As someone who spent 4 years doing the semen tests after vasectomies, my advice is make sure that you get it done by someone who does loads each month, not a general surgeon. Often there's a local GP who does them, check it out through local family planning clinic. They have a much lower failure rate than general surgeons. |

I had it done 2 years ago and have no regrets.
I did everything I was advised to do like lie down don't do anything for 24 hours etc etc..
Made no difference. I had nads the size of grapefruits and had to support them for 3 weeks.
It was no nice but everyone is different.
Do what feels right for you

Had it done 15 years ago. Sexually... best decision I ever made as it takes away all of the issues about pregnancy. There are no long term side effects at all and if you are certain that you don't want any more kids, it is a no brainer. Yes it is a bit uncomfortable for the few days after getting it done but that soon heals and after that ..... |

Same here although it's one of the reasons we have moved to soft swinging recently as the pill can't be started on the day you have a meet and well condoms slip, split and it would be more stress than its worth. |

I'm considering have this done & whilst all the replies are helpful from a procedure & recovery point of view. The pervert in me can't help but wonder if it affects the viscosity & amount you ejaculate after having it done. A watery trickle of cum for a facial or creampie just doesn't seem as sexy!!!!! |
