I would say that there is, yes tiny opinion.
If you're a natural submissive you will want to submit. If you are dominated it "could" be that you are not a natural sub and the dynamic between the people involved will have evolved over time.

I always thought the following:
Submissive - much milder form of being dominated.
Dominated - will do as told, when told, has no say in the matter (unless using a safeword) is controlled etc. |

I think that the degree of submission or domination is negotiated and in the sense you mean there isn't a difference. |

the two words although referring to something similar are in fact different. submissive refers to sexual preference (not really the word i wanted but cant think of the correct one right now) and there are many forms of submissive; brats, switch (again slightly different) and so on. A switch may be dominated from time to time but is not by definition submissive, they may submit in a scene but do not identify as a sexual sub.
So they are different submissive is the preference dominated/ dominating is the act.
If any of that made sense to other people ill be amazed aha. |

This makes sense to me. In real life I'm naturally dominant and that crosses over into play to some extent. I'm not a naturally sub and never will be but in the right hands I can 'play' in a sub role. Complicated I guess - I stumble across profiles of couples in D/S relationship involving collars and defined roles and know it's not for me. Whatever works will become apparent I guess - great fun finding out! |

Interesting discussion....for me I am naturally submissive, I have a desire to please in all aspects of my life and this very often continues into my sex life.
For me being dominated is something different, in a way. It's someone taking control of my submissiveness and using it for their pleasure (and mine).
I currently play with a gentleman who is extremely domineering and one who most certainly isn't and yet my desire to please them both individually, yet in very different ways is the focus of my attention. |
