Some people like them, others take no notice and prefer a message. I think if you're going to wink rather than message then your profile has to be bang on in detail with good photos to grab someone's attention enough to respond. |

Winks work for me. I can decide if I want to send an introductory message. I also send winks...time is of a premium and I like to send well written messages to someone who I know has some interest. |

"Good points guys, and noted. As a single bloke to do a full on individual message for the recipient to not like your haircut is a bit gutting, hence the wink?"
I would only ever respond to a message but that's just me. Others are different. I think it's up to you to read profiles and decide if a wink might work |

I like getting them, and probably get as many as do msgs from women ( more both low numbers than suggesting I get loads!)
I also use them and put on my profile why I wink some people and msg others. Generally though I more luck when I get one than when I wink |

"Personally I prefer a message and generally ignore winks.
They tend to be from people who don't match what I like.
But occasionally they get me winking back " ...really ? |

"We like winks kinds of a polite way to see if people are interested it works better when you have face pics but we dont have them so cant say much "
Winks are fine.....and can lead to the most unexpected of things. See part 1 of a story i wrote called 'where a wink can lead....' in stories and forums. Was 14 months ago and still having fun....so i do like winks .... |

I dont mind winks and occasionally send them. But is it right to respond to a wink with a wink?
The other thing. When we receive a wink and message back sometimes we don't get a return message. I always wonder what the point of the initial wink was! |

In the very early and befuddling days of my time on Planet Fab I got a wink from an astonishingly divine looking gent. I assumed he'd winked in error, but was a tiny bit tipsy so winked back (well you never know, a gorgeous Adonis might like slightly batty history geeks!).
He hadn't winked in error.
He's now my number one wing man.
I'm still not quite sure how the hell I managed it as I'm not so much out of his league as possibly out of his entire galaxy. But I'm happy to get all that I can before he comes to his senses!!
Hence. I love a well placed wink. |

I understand why men wink, but if you really really like the look of someone it's best to message. I don't suppose many women take an awful lot of notice of winks when they have messages to go through. |

"I like to wink as an initial show of interest. The recipient(s) can then respond if interested and we can go on from there, or not. X
Please advise..."
A wink isn't a bad thing if you've read a profile and think you are a match.
Not a good thing when a wink sent from a non match trying his chances |

It's worth reading a profile to see if the person you're winking likes them. Mine says I ignore them but if someone doesn't read that they may think I'm not interested when in reality i have no idea of their interest.
If you're really interested in someone then drop them a nice message |
