This is something that has bugged me a little over time.

You send someone a message you see they have read it then next to you look/go to messages its yellow and unread, whats the point? Does anyone use it or should you just hit the dreaded delete button.

Curious to see other thoughts and opinions

Maybe it's used to go back and re-read later? Or they didn't realise you saw they'd read it and didn't want to think they had? Who knows!?

Stop stressing over your sent box - if they are going to reply, they will, so if your inbox remains empty, you have your answer.

All of this "what if they did it by mistake" is just nonsense in terms of using this site. If they did make a mistake, they are likely to have just as many offers to find someone they are looking for and who they won't make a mistake with.

If its a couple one might read it and then mark it unread so the other doesn't miss it, a single might mark it unread to go back to later.

There you go then. We don't receive enough mail to have to do that but I can see how it would be a good way to manage messages

I seems like it could be a great way and if i was in your age range you both would have received a message from me.

I use it if I read a message but don't have time to reply that way it's clear to me it's there so I can find it later/not forget about it

Yes we do that, or if one is answering we save the thread in the saved section and delete the read items...much tidier...can't have a scruffy box

I use it on my couples profile, if I have read the message but hubby hasn't had the chance to yet I will mark it unread until we can talk it over and decide between us. Saves the drama of the 'I saw you read my message but couldn't be bothered to reply' BS you can sometimes get.

Same here. Sometimes I want to read them but don't have time to reply properly. I like to have time to think about what I have to say.

This

Plus I like to read mail when I see it even if I can't reply yet. So then I know to reply later

You Dont Need to Know, right now

Why oh why oh why do people stress about their sent box? Don't look at it, don't stress. You will never know 'why' so just don't look.

And sometimes so I can go back and hit delete when that blue dot has disappeared...
