People claiming they've met me?
Jump to: Newest in thread
Just a bit of a whinge really as I don't get it..
I am finding it a little bit weird that I get the occasional message where guys claim we've talked previously or via text (I am incredibly careful who I give my number out to and have a fairly good memory with these things).
Or that I've met them and they're quite insistent on this (Had one go as far to give me a "late" verification claiming our pics came out well when it was another guy I'd met) but still, why?!
All it gets them is a block maybe 5 minutes of attention, plus ruining anything that might happen cause they can't believe it would work surely? Am I the only one ? |

I forget guys who i've met, but lets ignore that a minute, lol.
I do get guys acting like they've chatted with e but i know for a fact they haven't so i ignore those guys, let them talk to themselves. I think it's a scam to lure you into chatting with them. |

You told us that you would remember it forever Maybe we'll have to visit you in Cardiff to refresh your memory? |

The memorable ones are worth remembering ahem...
Yes it's what you've said, it's almost just to get you talking and some sort of attention I guess.
It just gets a little bit weird when they try claiming things |

See that's not nice especially if you don't actually do that.
I've had that quite recently actually, and then they start getting really rude asking what's the difference. |

Very odd behaviour - I have not encountered this myself.

Yes OP, those messages crop up a lot and are both perplexing and annoying.
It's when I'm in a chat room and someone starts saying either that we've met or have some sort of meet agreed that I get particularly weirded out. Usually politely suggest they must have me confused with someone else and, if they persist, clearly call them on being deluded or an outright liar.
Nowt so queer as folks. |

It's a game of chance, you know the old saying, ask 100 girls for a shag, you'll probably get 99 slaps in the face and 1 good time.
They do it for the same reason you get emails from the son of a Nigerian Prime Minister with $100,000,000 and no bank account to hide it in.
There must be mugs out there who occasionally fall for it, otherwise they wouldn't do it.

Exactly. It's why people do blatant 'look at me' threads. Most people generally mock them and take the piss BUT if only one hot date comes out of it - job done surely?
As you say, it's all a numbers game!
Any advertising campaign expects a very small uptake - it's all about getting the awareness and attention out there! |

I get that but I still can't believe someone would fall for it, as soon as you see a face picture you'd know surely?
Unless on the off chance it's someone who goes to clubs/greedy girls nights and meets quite regularly and the person is aware of this, I really don't know how you could ever be fooled by it. |

Ive had this, where a guy insisted I was his brothers ex and then went on to tell me very personal details about her in order to prove he knew who I was.. Dangerous game to play with strangers people need to be more careful..
Anyyywaaaay, serious face off, I've had a couple of others pretend that we've spoken before in a bid to get my phone number etc, do they really think people are that gullible? |

I went to a club recently and met 2 female friends there. When they arrived 3 single males rushed to their car, claiming one had recommended the club to them and that they couldn't get in as there were too many single males in, so wanted to go in with them. She told them she had never spoken with them and would not go in with them, they protested with her and didn't leave her be until she was at the club entrance!
I was used to it through messages, but outside a club! |

I remember the fondue set caught fire and we had to throw it over a cliff to stop the toboggan catching fire.
Seems your memory isn't as good as you'd like to think. |

It happens. Along with the whole 'we spoke a while back' line. I suppose it's an attempt to intrigue into a conversation but I find it slightly creepy even though I understand the reasoning. |

I can honestly say I've never met you! I've not spoken, text, morse coded? (If that's what it's called) or conversed in any other way. Hope that clears that up |
