Having been swinging for a number of years now and in various locations around the world there has always been two constants from my view point.
That is that you find two types of swingers generally.
Remember this is my opinion from my experiences and im not claiming them to be right but id like to see what your views are.
The first types are all just about sex. Go to a club or meet and its raucous and debaucherous.
The second type and the type i fall into, i classify as the brain fuck type. The type that likes to possibly meet for a social, flirt touch, alot of intellectual stimulation and the sex tends to be more sensual.
I get that there are various categories in between and grey areas.
However if you could broadly categorise, do you agree or not and if you do which type are you? |

I think you are basically right...there are some for whom a mental connection is important and for some it is unimportant or indeed not wanted.
That said, sometimes going to a Club is fun and at some Clubs a lot of talking goes on.
I've met people at Clubs and have become really good friends with them over time!

Did you not miss out the third group that just talks on the internet or goes to socials with no intention of ever playing?
We are in your first group. We go to clubs first and foremost to have sex with other people. The many strong friendships we've made on the way have been incidental. |

I think you are more or less right I really do need a mental connection. I fall into the second group and I can enjoy clubs just on a social level.. Play happens with the right person is an unexpected bonus. |

We could sit just about anywhere on your spectrum. Sometimes we're looking for a quick and dirty release, sometimes something altogether more sophisticated. So, even with the generalisation caveat, we don't identify with the 'two types' idea. |

I think we would agree with this - we swing for sex, to fulfil and share our sexual fantasies and the fun that comes from that. On the other hand we also enjoy our swinging to be very sensual and erotic. The mental connections we leave for our friends in "real life". We are friends with some of our swinging acquaintances, but certainly not with all. |

First group for us... we have our relationship for the emotional stuff. If i make friebds along the way then it's cool - i love the social side of swinging, but for the sexual side of it i think we'd rather have a nice submissive fuck-toy. |

Great summing up by OP...Although I do visit clubs which tend to be more immediate action I would fall into 2nd Group as I do like social side of meet by going for bite to eat(lunch or dinner)a few drinks(doesn't need to ne alcohol)and some good conversation. I think after that the fun is better.. |

I'm definitely the latter as I enjoy the mental connection and the pleasure knowing what your partner enjoys. I prefer regular meets for that reason.
However, there's times where the former can be really hot!

In my experience most forumites would fall into the 2nd group as we enjoy the banter.
As i said its a generalisation, there are grey areas.
My point however is, if you know which swinger you are then you should know the types of swingers you would want to meet.
From reading profiles you can figure that out for the most part.
That is my filtration process, although that aint working well in terms of reply. |

You know in my post the day on Asian guys i was actually trying to get to something before that lady went all ape on me.
But the two aspects of swinging ive been unable to correlate is group two and profiles.
Ive been on many sites and the type 2 you think would be more open to like minded meets and i feel here is where most guys struggle.
Apart from the obvious of being courteous and respectful, guys are just a profile with average pics, myself included.
Most of the type 2 woman need to see a personality whether you white, brown black etc.
Yes they will have preferences but ive been with woman that said no asians that was ripping my pants off.

On the whole I'm group 2! And as much as I love the social side of clubs, I have been known to be naughty ! Maybe I'm an inbetweener! But sway more towards group 2! All in the best possible taste of course |

For us it's the second group
Only been to a club once have no problem playing there but would meet a couple we already knew as the mental connection is an important part for us.
Finding friends we can enjoy a night with as well as some fun with, we have vanilla friends as well but that is a totally different side of our lives. |

I'd offer another dimension to it and you can have a 2x2 matrix!:
Type A: knows what they like and just want more of it. They have a profile that reads like a specification with height, weight and age preferences
Type B: has a bucket list of things they want to try including people of all shapes and sizes. |

I think you got it! Couldnt of put it better myself. I'm number 1, but I'm on a lot of bucket lists being a red head! So number 2's dont do it for me. |
