Why wink and then nothing??.....

Jump to: Newest in thread

By (user no longer on site) OP     over a year ago

I'm wondering if anyone else has the answer to this? I occasionally get a wink from some one which I assume indicates that there is some sort of interest there so I have a look at their profile & put together a considered message based on that & then nothing! It's happened quite a few times now & I find it a little confusing.

near the sounds of the wimborne quarter jack!

A lot depends on yours and their interpretation of what the wink means. Or they could just have pressed the wrong button!

"A lot depends on yours and their interpretation of what the wink means. Or they could just have pressed the wrong button!"

True but it's happened too often for them all to have hit the wrong button! As I've said I'm assuming there's some sort of interest otherwise why bother? Just curious for people's thoughts as it obviously isn't just me that has experienced it.

If someone winks and we like the look of them we will wink back often that's the last we hear of it. I think some people just wink as a way of saying "you look nice" and that's it.

Not sure why people wink as they rarely follow up with a message...I've just deleted this evening batch as there isn't time to go through every profile that winks.

Maybe the wife winked and the husband blocked you

A wink can mean they might be interested, based on what they can see on your profile

If you message and they don't reply, I'd take it as they aren't interested now you've interacted with them?

A million and one reasons why that might be, but just take no reply as no interest = easy

"had it twice in 2 days i reply and then nothing can understand it "

Depending on when you messaged (say when they're offline) your message could have gotten pushed off the front page

Sometimes I'll send a wink to a good profile or set of photos. ..doesn't mean I want to particularly meet up with them though ..just an appreciation wink

So you send out 10 messages. Log off for a while and then come back later to an inbox of 10 replies. As you open them they all say no thanks. Would that make you feel better???

I'd rather keep my inbox for positive messages, a no reply is a no thanks anyway according to the site FAQ.

Having said that if we say no and people ask why, we tell them politely. That's help us too as I didn't even realise I had a beer belly til we joined Fab lol x

We reply to messages but a wink means that we have to check the winkers profile to decide if we want to chat so the onus is on us. Bit of a time problem when you receive hundreds.

We just take them - winks- as being an appreciation of our profile or pics and nothing more.

Thanks for the comments guys. It's interesting to hear everyone's thoughts on the subject, I never particularly take a wink as an indication that a meet is wanted but just always assumed an interest so thought that person/couple might exchange at least a message to find out a little more but hey no worries I'm not one to lose sleep over these things!

I do that if I like the profile, it saves me writing out a well thought out message only for it to be deleted.

I don't find this surprising at all. If we are really interested we message, if we just like a profile or some pictures on a profile a wink is just a mark of appreciation.

A wink is a simple exclamation of appreciation or interest. Simples.

We are reluctant to Wink for the same reason - were not sure how it is interpreted. Perhaps wrongly we assume most single guy winks are all par for the course, we get them even when profile says they are deleted. If its from a couple we assume its some expression of interest. Not really sure why we have a different interpretation. No wonder everyone is confused!!
