I see you also posted this in the lounge, have you got personal experience of this? Were you the 'other man' playing with the wife?

Anyway, To answer it I guess it's just simple hypocrisy - what's good good the goose isn't for the gander (as case of having their cake and eating it)

Because the world revolves around them, and they're allowed to be hypocrites. The other person in the relationship isn't allowed to have autonomy.
