I like to be able to hold a decent conversation with somebody and to do that we need to be at a similar sort of level, so about the same as me which isn't difficult to achieve  .

 yeah got to agree with this. The best meets are those where you can have a decent peer to peer conversation without either party coming across as too much of a smart arse to the other |

We like the social aspect of swinging and it's a lot easier to click with people if we can have a decent conversation. Not saying we need to have a 2 hour debate about macro-economics or the finer points of string theory before we tear each others clothes off, but it's nice to have a bit of conversation to go with the shagging
Have to admit, we're a bit turned off by terrible spelling and text speak in profiles and messages too! Sorry if that comes across as snobby. |

They don't need to hold a PhD however I do love intelligence. It's sexy. Emotional intelligence or just the ability to really talk with passion and conviction about something . A good conversation is like foreplay for me.

In a club... often there isn't much talk before things happen, so who cares?
For a meet, we prefer an in-person non-sex meet first, to see if we get on with a prospective playmate(s) - e.g. in a pub. And whilst intelligence isn't a requirement, we're less likely to click with someone we just can't communicate properly with |

As long as they're honest, friendly and fun, and can hold a reasonable conversation, that's all that matters
I've mingled with PhD holders, people with no educational qualifications and everything in between... Certificates can show an ability to absorb and regurgitate information, form opinions and arguments... But if they're held by an arse, I'm not interested! |

Having intelligence is the most important thing to me.
Of course there are many types of intelligence but being able to hold a stimulating conversation is the biggest turn on. Far more than knowing Pi to a hundred decimal places.
All these text speak profiles and ridiculous forum threads does make me wonder about fab sometimes.  |

We like people to have a special spark, whether it be intelligence, knowledge, humour, passion or interest. Not being able to connect on anything other than a physical level would be a real turn-off!

Couple of comments above about people who are supposedly intelligent but have gaps in other ways - this is really common, but seems much more noticeable in people who are otherwise exceptionally bright. ( How could a rocket scientist be so 'dumb'?)
Dyspraxia (clumsiness on steroids, to grossly oversimplify) would be a noticeable one - "fumbles buttons, trips over own feet", as would various manifestations of Aspergers (which might simply show up as a seeming difficulty with social skills), obviously these examples just tip of the proverbial iceberg.
Anyone with sufficient empathy can get past these - just depends on putting in a bit of extra effort to make a connection that's much deeper as a result. Definitely not something that everyone in the swinging world has the patience for though! |

They can't be as thick as pig shit but they don't have to have been studying at Oxford for five years either. As long as you can hold a real, adult conversation with them with plenty of humour thrown in then I'm happy. A clever, well read, well spoken woman is actually a big turn on. |

Sure, I absolutely love intelligent and creative women but that's not all that matters - so it's not really an issue for me, as long as they're friendly and kind-hearted.
I think we sometimes place too much emphasis on intelligence, as interpreted by certain very subjective criteria, and nowhere near enough on far more worthy attributes like empathy and kindness.

Well, the written test is long and complex, many take their own life once they get to the fifth page (sexual history). The phone interview isn't quite as grueling ("what are you wearing"), and those that make it through to the oral test figure they've done very well and that it was well worth the effort. |

One of my best meets, and still a very close friend had me in stitches, knew everything about everything, could run rings around me, works as a cleaner and has a high school education.
I've met doctors, bankers that didn't pass the social stage as they bored me witless trying to impress me.

I'd like people I meet to be emotionally intelligent rather than academically. More interested in life experiences than than things they've studied so people that travel, have unusual jobs or hobbies (apart from the lifestyle) are very attractive to me. |

Someone who can hold a decent conversation while cooking me a delicious meal and pouring a glass of wine, all at the same time, works for me.
Someone who's intelligent enough to know when to stop talking.
Someone who can say all the right things when we get down to some action e.g, wow, you look fantastic; you've got the body of an eighteen year old etc.
It's so easy......

All this intellectual benchmark are complete gibberish to a lot of folks. Modesty and Mannerisms matters . Don't expect too much on a swinging site . if you are in a dating site looking for soul-mate fine I will agree with you because that's someone you want to share your life with. But not on a swinging site.
Please I am not advocating people should lower their expectations. |

Above average intelligence, well travelled and educated.
Poor spelling, grammar and text speak is a real turn off for us.

I really don't care what somebody does for a living or what certificate they hold
They do, however, need common sense and the ability to string an intelligent conversation together

As long as they know the concept of consideration and respect the rest is just details.
As there are several type of intelligences and often people confound intelligence with being cultured.
Insofar as you can hold a conversation in a respectful manners, I'll meet you. Whether your IQ is higher or lower than mine.
