I read an interesting article written by a qualified therapist who specialises in relationship issues.
He states that one of the traits that determines happiness and good mental health is flexibility, the capacity for creativity, abstract thinking, and adapting to changing circumstances.
Apply that concept to the way non monogamist couples _iew their sex lives, "and in most cases", a couple who are open about their sexual needs and are willing to explore together, very rarely have the fear of betrayal and cheating, which in turn leads to a more balanced and happy mental state.
It got me thinking,
1. To those couples who swing in your present relationship, but didn't in past ones, are you happier because you can be open and fear losing your partner less to infidelity, and would a past relationship have been more likely to have worked if they had been more adventurous?
2. To those who are here without their partners knowledge, do you wish your partner was open minded enough to explore sexually with you, and if so, would you be happier ,and would it make the relationship stronger?

I'm much happier and more confident being sexually more open than I was. Not completely open as I find I try to hide aspects from prying eyes for various reasons, but it's who I am to be flexible, adventurous and caring, but circumstances mean I can't commit at the moment |

What is good for your mental happiness is being open and honest in a relationship about your sexual wants and needs whether that brings you to having recreational sex with others or not.
Communication makes the happiness(in my experience) |
