To shave or not to shave?
Jump to: Newest in thread
Women, do you feel like you have to shave to conform?
I listened to a radio programme this morning and they were tallking about how women feel the need to conform to stereotypes set by porn. Do you (men I suppose as well) shave because you want to or because it's 'normal'?

A little of both possibly but more uncomfortable phsyically, perhaps because we get used to not having hair there and then when we do it gets in the way. |

I personally like to keep myself trimmed just because I like that look. Hate shaving off all my pubes. That just seems daft. I also think it daft that women often feel they have to shave off all there body hair. Don't understand that myself. |

I've been shaving mine constantly since I was 16. I dislike it that much "
The comeback of the bush is the greatest news of the last few years in my book. Long overdue. |

I strongly disagree with this type of feminist malarkey. I feel the majority of women shave because they want to shave. I know for a fact that my g/f does. Well, we both use hair removal cream. Dislike bodily hair in most places - not because it's "the thing" to do but because it's a personal preference. Not everything has some OTT pretence behind it. |

I'm gobsmacked that your 16yo self had such negative thoughts towards your perfect body. |

It often seems odd to me though that it's only in say the last 20 years or so that shaving has become such a big deal. Before that women just didn't seem that fussed about it. Now a whole multi-million pound industry has built up around it and it's become a 'thing'. I have no problem with women shaving if that's what they want to do but I feel that there's even a stigma now that's built up around having a bush when in fact it's just a most natural thing. |

Wanting to shave one's pubic hair isn't a "negative" thought, it's a personal preference. |

Even if that was the case (and I don't believe it is) then what's the problem - at the end of the day, for whatever reason, these women prefer to be shaved. As long as they're happy with that then is there even a problem? |

I've been removing my pubic hair ever since it first grew in! I keep a small patch, but I find it more comfortable, and more hygienic to be hair free. It has nothing to do with porn, I didn't know it existed then! |

You've missed the point a bit. At 16, an age where our brains are not fully developed, she found her pubic hair so awful, she's shaved ever since.
That is most definitely a negative thought. |

No problem whatsoever if that's what they want to do. It is just a choice like any other at the end of the day. It's just funny how it just popped up out of nowhere and now if you have a bush it's seen as a little odd and strange by a lot of people. There's definitely some peer pressure involved here. And I don't just mean with pubic hair. Some women feel they just have to shave their arms and legs etc because it's seen as the thing to do. |

Bushy pubes for me all the way and smooth labia majora. If a lover wants me au naturelle I will do it with pleasure. I LOVE hair on a man. It's incredibly masculine and wouldn't be with a man who was all smooth. |

Oh and I'm definitely not worried about peer pressure and what's the norm. I'm not made for the masses...perhaps only for a select few. I'm here to celebrate my individualism. |

Again, it's not a negative thought (imo). I disliked my pubic hair and began shaving from when I was... what, 14, 15? Because I prefer the smooth look and feel. I bet her situation was similar. |

I vaguely recall listening to a radio discussion on this and the feminist was adament it was all due to porn pressure that women felt they "had" to shave.
Eh?
We shave because we prefer it and we will not meet couples who don't.
Pubic floss... no ta.

For the past 20years we have had the interweb showing everyone what everyone does making things like this more widespread and info assessable,
I don't believe Pre 20years 95,85,75,65 it wasn't done. Just not as openly discussed. |

If I shave I shave and if I don't I don't. It's not a big deal to me.
I really, really dislike hairless people, men mainly who are lacking in any hair. It just looks so, so strange to me. Not my type at all. |

In some ways yes? Used to shave and be totally bare to conform and kept being told it was cleaner but then decided not to shave anymore and am quite happy thank you, in the summer trim a little and do the bikini line for when I'm in a bikini but in the autumn don't need to bother anymore and my o/h loves it natural so everyone's a winner |

By the same token, we don't mind either way in others what they do, if they shave that's up to them and if they don't that's fine too we will meet anyone we get on with regardless on whether or not they're shaved or not |

I did decide to shave to conform but I quite like the sexy feeling (not that I actually get hardly any sex). |

is there anyone who would turn a meet down with someone they found really attractive if they found at the last minute that they had pubic hair? Does anyone feel that those of us who choose to trim only should declare it?....I wouldn't but I'm interested to know how much of a deal breaker people feel it is.
I have noticed a shift recently though from the majority claiming they have encountered nothing worse than people with pubic hair to a more laissez faire attitude. |

Yea we were talking about that the other day. Porn mags we used to find in friend's dad's garden sheds were full of bush. Even before it became a fashion to mow the lawn tho, I knew I didn't like it. I hated that the occasional few strayed out of my swimming costume and then when I started having sex I knew it felt better for me to remove the fur. Now I couldn't imagine growing a growler again ... |

Trimmed and shaved round the lips is fine , but an unruly mass of hair is a deal breaker .
We met a couple a while back and when the female pulled her pants down , Sabrina said quietly to me that there was no way she was going down there .
As I rarely get involved anyway I told them it was good to meet them but we would be on our way now . He asked as we left Iif it was because of his wife's hairy muff as it wouldn't be the first time this had happened . I said yes , perhaps he should forewarn potential meets .
So yes we would say no and gave done |

We have been swinging together for around 35 or so years and have never caught an STI.
We are sure that one of the reasons is because neither of us shave our pubic areas.
Medical experiments confirm that shaving allows the spread of STIs due to the micro-cuts and in-growning hairs caused by shaving.
Pubic hair also helps prevent the spread of genital warts, possibly as there is less skin to skin contact. |

But that's just your personal opinion and preference, would you prefer it if everyone looked the same? How odd to have such a strong opinion on shaven pubic hair.
Tell you what is stupid, actually, and that is being in your late forties/early fifties and still not knowing the difference between there and their. |

Shaved seems to have become the norm then. I do feel sad that people feel the need to forewarn about such a thing. |

we have been in a club on a number of occasions walking about some have seen mildreds bush and said oh I didn't realize you don't have to shave to cum to a club, going onto say they only shaved as they thought they needed too,
so clearly some do shave to conform, were natural and like it that way and wouldn't shave for others if asked, but we wouldn't turn down a meet just because the others were shaved |
