Jodhpurs are easier. Not as stiff as skinny jeans if you wear cotton based ones lol |

I think that fox hunting although classed as a blood sport and currently illegal also has its place in the countryside as not alot of people realise that the fallen lambs and cattle have a cost to the farmer for removal and disposal. We're as if there's a hunt in the area these are often given to the pack as food. There's an upside and down side to it.
On the upside sexy posh titty in jompas lol |

I don't agree with killing defenceless animals, it's completely pointless and crawl!
I understand hunting for food, (although I don't hunt myself) but to run down a fox and let it be ripped apart by dogs is sick
Then again I just did a year in the Amazon doing animal conservation so I'm the worst person to read this post |

Is there much difference between killing one animal for sport and killing another for sport?

What's people's thoughts on hunting for food?
Shooting rabbits or squirrels and eating them?
Hunting for sport provokes some very strong responses and rightly so, I'm not a fan of killing for the sake of a day out and a laugh.
But hunting game to eat I have no issue with. |

So what if a person is hunted and not a fox? A "runner" heads off on a planned route given a head start before they get followed. I don't see anything wrong with this and have been on this type of hunt where no animals are harmed. Just the runner getting covered in dog slobber at the end |

I would totally volunteer to be cuddled and slobbered to death by a pack of dogs. |

I have done this as I used to help exercise the hounds. The noise they make when they come after you is awesome. I have also been jumped on and slobbered on after walking some of the puppies. Lead got tangled round my legs so I stupidly sat down in the field to untangle myself. 25 loose bloodhounds then decided to jump on top of me lol |

I don't hunt for sport. I hunt game for food. It's healthier for me and my kids, it's healthier for the animal population (less inbreeding for example), it's sustainable, it's cheap. Fun isn't a word I would use but I do enjoy it. |

Maybe we should only be allowed to kill animals if it's something we don't enjoy.
I'm also not convinced that game you have shot is better for you than good quality meat from a butcher or supermarket. |

It's less fatty, it's not fed on feeds filled with steroids, it's not full of antibiotics. It's also good exercise. There's a world of difference in taste too.
I can also appreciate that some people don't like the idea of killing an animal and eating it but I do find it slightly hypocritical if those who object aren't vegetarian/vegan. |

I don't personally believe there is a 'world of difference' that would be reflected in your health, personally. Otherwise we'd all be encouraged to eat game rather than chicken if there truly was a 'world of difference'. |

We're encouraged to eat chicken and other farmed meats because there's large profits to be made by supermarkets (and other retailers). |

I have a lot of respect for people who hunt their own meat.
A lot more respect than the people who object to hunting for food yet go and buy the nice little pre packaged chicken breasts from the supermarket.

It screams hypocrisy doesn't it.
For the record I don't hunt all of my meat, that would be ridiculous. When I buy meat I do try to buy from local farm shops whenever possible. |

No British meat has ever been fed steroids and medicated feed has to be stopped 60 days before slaughter |

Of course it does, people are very disconnected from where food comes from. Someone has killed, butchered and packages that plump looking chicken stacked nicely on the shelf.
I understand not everyone would be comfortable with doing the killing themselves but to look down upon people who do is just
We're lucky, we have an awesome farm shop about 2 miles away and a very good butcher just down the road. The quality is much better than any supermarket.
The worst chicken I've ever tasted was from Iceland and was borderline inedible, just full of water |

And beef burgers from UK suppliers probably aren't supposed to contain horse meat but they somehow did. |

Fair enough but are all traces of medication out of the animals system?
I'm not against farmed meats and I support local farmers when I can (I grew up in a farming community). |

I am a fully paid up carnivore with a shotgun licence. I live deep in the countryside and consider myself a village boy through and through. The lady rides several horses but both of us struggle with the concept of hunting animals for sport and would never partake.
Rather shoot clay pigeons I wince whenever I hear a gunshot in the woods near my house as I know it's probably a lovely deer meeting its end.
I never eat game but happily eat other meat. Weird I know.
