I suppose it depends what appeals to him. And to you.

I am not into D/s play but I think you can act Dom without necessarily getting into ropes and spanking.
It's very much about the attitude and assertiveness. It's power play really... And it often starts before the actual meet takes place. Set the scene, set the tone, assign tasks, give instructions, create anticipation...
Then once you meet be in control. Don't hesitate, don't negotiate, command and enjoy.
