Was speaking to a friend recently who is part of a couple and she told me that during a meet she had pre arranged non verbal signals to indicate to her partner that she was not comfortable with a situation . Never heard of this before. Is this common? |

Very common, yes.
We've never had to employ such tactics though, as we're scrupulous re: meet arranging |

One couple we met told us what their code was, if she wasn't interested she'd ask "if he'd paid the gas bill", or the "electric bill" if she was. Kind of just slips into a conversation lol.
Have to say I know my other half well enough to know if he's interested and vice versa. xx |

"I think I've been on the receiving end of some of these verbal signals - I remember in particular being told to "Sod off"...!"
Similar here except first word began with "f" |

quite common and very sensible. We agreed after a disastrous and possibly dangerous mistake though that if either of us was uncomfortable to just say. A moments embarrassment is nothing. |

Me and my ex used to have codes. He would stroke my thigh if intrested, my back if not. I'd always get them confused and would be like ....Wtf they are hot lol. Best to just pop to the bar and get them some drinks. Gives the other couple a chance to chat too. |

It's a code phrase that means "grope my jeans beneath the table" however, it might have been the lady on the other side of me. |

We used them in the early days so as not to offend the people we were meeting, and to double-check we were both happy before one of us crossed a new line. But they are less important now as we become more experienced and frequently start with socials.
I may be ugly, but surely not too ugly to have a drink with?
(Although there was that one time.... )
