We own a dog.

It means we're at her beck and call whenever she wants food, fuss, a walk on the beach, her shit picking up or when we have to wedge into a corner of the sofa so she can stretch out.

That's probably the kind of thing it means, surely?

Speak to someone directly. Figure it out together.

Ok. Maybe too serious of me but I always thought the "ownership" was a working product of the BDSM scene. Ownership meant responsibility as well as control. The Dom/ Domme would filter and protect the sub in a club or in extreme give her/her to others to play if safe, sane and consensual.

On fab it seems to mean newly dating and either monogamous or couples only play.

A lot of women seem to use it as the new "going steady".

MAMOBA, miles and miles of bugger all (Aberdeenshire)

Appealing to be thought of as a guinea pig for someone "giving it a go"

I am submissive away from fab - my submission already gifted to someone. He is mine, and I am his, but we are both open to see others (but not in the DS sense) but I am not owned. I'm way to bratty to cope with that!

I'd suggest you find someone who is willing to explore the scene with you together, and work it out from there.

I've had 3 male dominants, and each relationship has been very different - because they were very different, and I was at different stages of my life too.

It's not a hat you can wear for a couple of hours, make sure it's what you want, do you want a slave or a sub, total power exchange (TPE) or just a bit of light bondage, ask people who are active in the community questions, read and digest factual books on bdsm, not cheap literature, would Mr grey have been as intresting if he was an order picker in a supermarket?

"no sorry why does it end up being my name that's been discussed ffs keep to the script!!!!"

Probably because it is a rather cheesy name that makes you sound inexperienced. Some people may get the impression that you have seen the movie / read the book and now think you know everything about DS relationships. I'm not having a go Luke just pointing out why people may have hijacked your posting.

Do you understand that most people see 50 shades as a bit lame?

And I'm talking normal people. On a sex site even more people see 50 shades as a bit lame.

Now you post a thread about owning someone. For those who live that lifestyle, I'm guessing here, but they'll see 50 shades as a bit of an embarrassment which misrepresented their lifestyle and created thousands of misinformed Mr Grey wannabees.

So, can you see why people may find it easy, or feel the need to take the piss instead of giving you genuine advice and answers?

Advice: read some proper books on thr subject.

Change your name.

I class myself as owned. Owned/collared is a commitment. It has different levels and collaring is serious shit in the BDSM thing.

I'm in a committed relationship vanilla and D/s wise and as we are still learning about each other, developing our fetishes with each other and in a training process, we class it as owned and collared to that level. Training.

Our relationship is total power exchange that has been agreed.

There is a swinging term of owned. My dom is a bull. He classes a regular cuckold couple he is keeping as owning them. And I agree with a post above that many use it instead of 'going steady' or having a regular.

I guess as always, it's down to individuals. If you type 'owned BDSM' you'll find some good blogs about it.

If the 50 Shades thing is your thing, then you will find some women on here that that will suit as it's their thing too. But you are using a quite strong word from BDSM with masses of commitment and responsibility.

I recently read a book that inspired me and changed how I see things, it made me realise there were other ways to achieve my goal, and get things done.

From this new understanding comes my new name.

There will be some. However no one is going to give themselves to someone without knowing they have experience and its not really something you can just give a go...

What do you think it means...? What would you want...As you need some idea.. why do you want to give it a go?

Being owned will Mean something different to everyone , so you need to know what your looking for. It however is a big commitment or should be... ( have seen the Velcro owned etc in the past) it is a big investment of time.

Think of it a little like when your looking for a pet... Do you really have time to train and give them all the attention they would need.

There a bit of a difference between that and someone with a daft name, cock shot avatar, out of their depth in the shallow end and having a minor hissy fit when things aren't going their way

So still in control then and within you limits.

If they're flying of the handle you won't be stopping an inch before you limits you'll be going well beyond them.

To be fair to the OP, I thought his original question was valid. But you've got to love Fab right? (haven't you? maybe?) as usual 95% of the original responses were all about ripping the piss rather than answering what was, on the face of it, a reasonable question (albeit it could have been worded a little better) for a Swinging / sex site forum ...

The rest is inevitable ... behaviour breeds behaviour ...
