Well, last year we we didn't appreciate those people who started up their b* generators all night without any thought for others. We even moved after the first night because we were near a particularly bad offender. Hope it's better this year. |

Yes agree with last year and the generator point drove me insane. People seemed better this year. |

Hilarious article and comments.... just missing one from katie hopkins calling us filthy perverts!!!
Generators and bloody quad bikes in the early hours were annoying, but for a weekend you can put up with minor annoyances... |

"I guess the photographer comes from swns.com (and yet they aren't running anything on Swingfields on their site yet...)"
Yeah slightly annoyed by it, one thing is showing a photo of a campsite but it's another when you start putting people in it. |

If you are in a public place, eg a campsite then you have no expectation of privacy and anyone can photograph you. The copyright of that photo belongs to the photographer so they can do what they like with it.
Good luck getting anywhere. |

As a condition of entry the tickets should include a restriction that no photographs or video taken on the site may be published (including to social media) without the approval of the organisers. Such restrictions apply on many other event tickets. Clearly not perfect solution but every little helps...
Otherwise... Next year Take a hire car or mask your number plate and other identifiable features on your vehicle before arriving on site, and wear a hat and sunglasses, even at night.. Oh and don't look up... I bet by next year there will be folk overflying drones to get photos!! |

I'm actually kicking myself as i am pretty certain i saw the photographer quite early this morning on my way back from the toilet.
Something just didn't sit right as he looked too 'well dressed' to be at the end of a festival and had a rucksack on his back. He had literally just walked in and was heading down the hill to the crossroads type bit. I should have trusted my instinct and said something

To be fair it is one of the few things that we noticed. Over the course of the weekend we see multiple pictures being taken and multiple videos being taken all on phones.
We understand it is very hard to police but why not ban phones from the main entertainment area for this each purpose, which would then make it easier to police.
A though for next year maybe. Truth is anyone could have taken those pictures that was at the festival and sold them on. |

Pics on daily mail must have been taken around 11am.
I guess it could have been a ticket holder who sold the photos, but if not, surely the person was trespassing?
I was impressed with the security over the weekend, but it's now obvious they should have been patrolling until the last guest left the field. |

Thats my silver van ????????
It was def a private event
And it was def well publicised that nobody was to take pics on any subject
Or people over the course over the weekend
And i personally had a big argument on the first night about this with a Guy!
And the security team also had a drone flying overhead haha

The pics on the daily mail site have been updated from when the story was first on there, shots taken from inside the festival weren't on there earlier
The story was first on the local news website and has obviously been picked up by the nationals as it's the exact same copy (actually sat reading the local news site story Saturday night, so recognised it when read on the national sites today)
Is worrying if the pics were taken today while everyone packing up, privacy is one of the main concerns I think for many of us attending |

I thought the mail pictures showed a very orderly tame .. Well managed event .. The blurb is the usual newspaper hype but the pix of a few tents in the sunny countryside looked like any other caravan club get together .. Hardly scenes of debauchery as i n I Claudius .. More like carry on camping |

I've just watched the video.
Don't know what the fuss is about, anyone who was there was simply spreading the word of God.
Surely this is a good thing?
I wonder why the Mail had included pictures of the church in the article.

Was a bit shocked to see my friends on this article.there obviously not happy about someome taking pics and ending up in the papers
however the pics are dignified and side or behind _iews and there wearing clothes
the photos do look like a normal campsite
the article goes all out of propotion as it was only at swingfields not in the village, people would have worn clothes to go garage and local shops and been respectful there are familys in that area swingers know there is a time and place.its just the usual hype of what it was a swinging event

The Citizen was owned by the Mail Group until 2012 - they still have links so it's no surprise it ended up there.
It is the Mail after all. Any excuse for a bit of 'outraged from the Middle of nowhere!' .

There was one complaint about noise from an adjacent property the other side of the next field, she got the council to come round to do a sound reading where we were actually 8 units below the maximum volume allowed but even then we turned it down another 12 units. Then she informed the police but as the council was happy, they were happy. she's giving this to the media and they have sensationalized it greatly. The on site pictures are a massive disappointment, thinking that 'one of our own' could betray trust in our community, but that's up to them and i hope they feel at least some guilt. |

The only surprise to me is that anyone is surprised that photos were taken and appeared in the press. I mean, hundreds of swingers in a field is hardly something the media is going to ignore.
One can only wonder how many thousands of photos were taken over the weekend by the swingers themselves, and how many of these will appear online, somewhere, someday. |

Depends if it is on public property, cameramen are allowed to photograph anybody without the concent of the person if it's on public property So long as they do not photograph Children or utilise the photographs in a media publication without the concent of the person or use the photographs as dammage. |

Call me naive but what was the difference between this festival and Tommorowland in Belgium
both have places designated for Sex Swingers feild I should imagine pret ty much every tent. Tommorowland had the Churc of Love/Chappel of Love. A designated area with a huge bed in it only for couples.
And I should imagine that Some people had too much too d*unk and ended up have sex in a field which happend in one of the camps at Tommorowland in 2014 and possibly every year it's been held. and both festivals have naked people walking around yet the swinging festival makes it into a national newspaper yet the EDM festival doesn't. Scream of hypocracy I say. |

This is advice from the met
Freedom to photograph and film
Members of the public and the media do not need a permit to film or photograph in public places and or on outside open private land. Police have no power to stop them filming or photographing incidents or police personnel.
In general under the law of the United Kingdom one cannot prevent photography of private property from a public place,[citation needed] and in general the right to take photographs on private land upon which permission has been obtained is similarly unrestricted.[
However, landowners are permitted to impose any conditions they wish upon entry to a property, such as forbidding or restricting photography.
A right to privacy exists in the UK law, as a consequence of the incorporation of the European Convention on Human Rights into domestic law through the Human Rights Act 1998. This can result in restrictions on the publication of photography.[this is where there is a huge contradiction in the law]

I would suggest the difference is simply one of novelty. The prudish UK doesn't have many 'sex-themed' open-air events, so when one pops up it's a juicy bit of 'news' for our prurient press. |

And if anyone looks up how loud 55 decibels is (as reported by the BBC) it's the equivalent of a conversation in a home or a dishwasher in use - not exactly ear-drum blasting!!
And I want to know where all the shrieks, moans and groans from people having sex noisy enough to be heard by villagers were coming from - I didn't hear any of that - must make an appointment to have my hearing tested!! |

I suspect there will be a new venue next year.
Really, the organisers should try to have a bit more consideration for the locals. I'm sure that none of the people at the festival want to upset any of the villagers.
I'm actually impressed that there were very little complaint about the "nature" of the event, just the volume of the music.

To be fair though, the person you quoted does have a point, instead of posts laughing at the people who were upset surely as swingers we know that not everyone will like this type of event on their doorstep so should accept that they are allowed to not like it and also say so.
At the same time, it sounds like it wasn't in your face bonking in fields for anyone to see... so the only thing they can complain about is any noise, which they are also entitled to. |

The report on the BBC website did specifically state that "The organisers" wouldn't turn it down.
55db didn't really sound very loud, but I think that it's probably more important whether it was loud enough to keep the locals awake. |

No one was asked to turn it down by anyone in authority when it was tested... So how could anyone refuse?
Though it was turned down out of consideration to others I believe...

"The report on the BBC website did specifically state that "The organisers" wouldn't turn it down.
55db didn't really sound very loud, but I think that it's probably more important whether it was loud enough to keep the locals awake.
No one was asked to turn it down by anyone in authority when it was tested... So how could anyone refuse?
Though it was turned down out of consideration to others I believe...

When the original complaint was made we turned the music down, she then complained to the landowners son (his dad was away) by banging on his door at midnight. He turned up the next day and was escorted round the site, and whilst surprised at the openness of the event (of which none could be seen from public land) was quite happy with the event. Later that day the original complainant was spotted at various points around the perimeter (which she had to cross private farmland) taking photos until asked not to by the security team. We then received a visit by the council and environmental health, who had had one complaint from an adjacent property the other side of the next field, who spent an hour touring the site and the perimeter checking noise levels (which were turned up to the volumes that we were using at night) and whilst they said it was perfectly acceptable we told them it would be turned down anyway. Later still we had a police visit who, after finding that the council were happy, were more than happy with us and seemed more annoyed that they'd been called out after the council had ok'd the levels. |

People believe anything written in the press don't they. It wasn't that loud, me and my partner are light sleepers and we slept fine the whole time. |

"To be fair it is one of the few things that we noticed. Over the course of the weekend we see multiple pictures being taken and multiple videos being taken all on phones.
We understand it is very hard to police but why not ban phones from the main entertainment area for this each purpose, which would then make it easier to police.
A though for next year maybe. Truth is anyone could have taken those pictures that was at the festival and sold them on."
The problem with banning phones from the main arena is that people would then have to leave them in their tents - where they are at risk of being stolen! Most swingers are honest -some aren't!!
I had an amazing time and will definitely be there next year - but will need to have a better cover story in place in case it hits the news again! Nearly got rumbled this time - thank goodness there really WAS a music festival in Gloucestershire at the time - told my suspicious daughter I went to that one instead! |

Then lockers would need to be provided or an alter ice storage area. As it is it is to easy to take pictures and record from within the festival and both were happening this event. More than one person had disagreements about it.
And to be honest I would rather risk my phone being stolen than I would us being 'outed' as swingers in the national
press lol. |

We couldn't use Barn on The Farm as an excuse as our teenage daughter and her friends were actually there. When we left Swingfields on Sunday morning we had to drive past Barn on the Farm which was a little hairy!! |

Putting the 'cum' in Eboracum |
"I suspect there will be a new venue next year.
Really, the organisers should try to have a bit more consideration for the locals. I'm sure that none of the people at the festival want to upset any of the villagers.
I'm actually impressed that there were very little complaint about the "nature" of the event, just the volume of the music.
Cal"
Campsites are usually near villages, so its unlikely that a venue will be found that won't piss someone off. Leeds festival is at Bramham Park, and the villagers are offered discounted tickets. Maybe thats something to consider |

"The mother in law just phoned and asked my partner if that's where I was this weekend- she knew I was in Gloucester but thought I was a different place. I think we got away with it but it made me chuckle...."
North Nibley had a brilliant festival - still Glocs but other side of M5, "just north of Bristol" that was our excuse! |

Have a separate pen from the residential part of the site and where any entertainment may take place stick a secondary perimeter and Confiscate any camers as they enter in. |

Been camping at a few sites in the Forest of Dean and noise and increased traffic is part and parcel of the tourist industry in the area. This individual sounds like the usual Tory townie who come into the area forcing house prices and driving the locals out.
Love this quote 'This is what happens when you vote for cuts - sooner or later you will need council services, and they won't be available.'
I bet the festival was much less of a problem then a bikes fest or a youth camp.
