Hey everyone
As a transgendered woman (TS) I feel I need to quickly educate some of you about what the difference between CD/TV and TS. Hopefully this will help some of you who are interested in people like me but are a bit confused as to what its all about (and also to try and stop alot of transphobic stuff ive seen on this site ).
Cross-Dresser (CD)... Someone who enjoys wearing the clothing of the opposite sex (usually lingerie and usually just for sexual purposes).
Transvestite (TV)... Someone who enjoys 'playing dress-up'. They usually have a completely other character that they dress up as from time to time as a form of escape and fun. This is something that is sometimes done in secret and has nothing really to do with their 'real' life.
Transsexual/Transgender (TS)... Someone who identifies as the opposite gender to the one they were assigned at birth. A lot of TS's go through hormone reassignment and surgeries to change their appearance permanently. This is not a fetish or a sexual thing AT ALL! This is who they are as a person and their gender identity, not their sexuality! |

"So there is no difference between transgender and transsexual? "
No transgender/transsexual mean the same thing but 'transgender' is the preferred term due to the porn connotations behind the 'transsexual' term. |

"I haven't viewed a lot "transphobic stuff" on this site, maybe you should use the report function if that's the case."
No ive not seen anyone saying anything outright offensive (in the forums) but they way TS's are spoken about on here and how we are messaged by people can be very disrespectful. |

Is someone always considered transgender, from birth? Or just when they start to transition from one gender to another?
Do you ever stop being transgender? Like post op +1 year,+5 years, +10 years etc. |

I apologise if I'm wrong, but if a person goes through whatever they have to go through to change sex, surely it is then changed on birth certificate so then they are just a man or a woman not transgender xx |

"i dont see why it is sad at all ..i am very tollerant if all but am unsure what they all mean so i welcome the explanation" figure of speech in Scotland, sad in that context doesn't mean what it usually does, hard to explain

Nonsense...i don't play dress up. Ive done it for years on a daily basis for work. And it's very much a lifestyle choice. Also very much my real life. I don't identify as the opposite sex right. Well not all the time anyway |

Thank you very much! I wasn't quite clear on the difference between a CD and a TV but I knew what TS was. This is very helpful, so thanks for sharing. |

For me, personally, I was born female, I am currently transitioning, then I will be male, kinda, I'll have an extra hole, so intersex?
But some people see themselves as transgender for the rest of their lives. |

OP now UNLOS anyway but often can't get everyone to agree on the popular trans site as to what each means so god knows how going to do that on here. Trans gender is term for all I thought and tv's less likely to be dressed full time but judging by how many are out in the village defo not done in secret. |

Not that unusual. I think transmen are just less fetishised than transwomen and therefore pass an awful lot more under the radar - so to speak.
I think I have four or five transmen in my social circle - but only one transwoman. |

I've never seen any transphobic comments, quite the opposite in fact.
Lisa Loves, Mikki Marracino and Tina Titz straight off the top of my head.
All trans and very regular forum posters and I can't say I've seen anything other than praise. |

TVs are not undergoing any HRT etc but typical are men who smoothen their skin, wear make up and dress feminine and like to be completely feminine when dressed.
Crossdressers are typically just guys dressing up in women's clothes, usually not smoothed. Everything else varies. |

I didn't always know, I was quite a feminine child. Only a few times I didn't feel "right" and couldn't work out why.
When I was 16 I found out the it was possible to have a sex change and something in my head just seemed to click into place, it fitted, I realised I was transgender.
Female to male transexuals aren't unusual at all, we just aren't as noticeable because we just look like young guys. I have polycystic ovaries so have always been very hairy and "butch". Apart from the pain I have actually been lucky to have that as I've looked male since I was about 16/17? I didn't actually start transitioning until about 5 years ago when I was 24. |

Yeah that's for sure.
Plus it's now viable for us to come out as 'other' or 'third' and for people to start to be able to grasp the concept of that.
Transgender is a catch-all label that also covers genderqueer/third/other/none individuals. |

But a transsexual dont necessarily have to change their whole appearance to look like a man or a female, lets say she was born a woman but still wanna be a convincing woman but just with a penis. Just saying. |

All these different terms CD TV T-Girl transgender are all the same thing really. It does tend to be a self expression of some sort of level and experience that one applys to themselves. They are often crossed terms from like the US and UK also.
TBH there are many that class themselves as transsexual that are no different, apart from maybe some self assesed superiority complex. And the use of hormones and surgery. Many transsexuals have no intentions these days of full transistioning. Even Post operative you are left with the question as to whether you are always just trans? |

Plus other factors, there's a well known transsexual pornstar called vanity who openly admits she doesn't want her penis turned into a vagina because she's scared she wouldn't be able to cum |

With how hard lower surgery is on the body, both mentally and physically, and with it not always giving people the results they want, I'm fully understand why not everyone goes through it.
Some people don't want to put themselves through all that just so they fit into boxes made by other people's opinions. |

No, androgynous is not a gender.
Third generally means some variation of 'not male or female'. I generally use the term 'other' to describe myself but some people prefer 'third' because other isn't really very nice.
Different parts of the world have different recognitions to what 'third' means in their culture. If you google 'third gender' there is a reasonable wikipedia article. |

No, transsexual means to either be transitioning or to have transitioned.
It's not an identity it's a term.
You can identify as male, female, androgynous, transgender etc but not as transsexual that's something you are. |

^^ This.
I will not have hormone therapy or lower surgery because the results don't match the way I want my body to be. Since I suffer little dysphoria to do with my genitals it doesn't matter much to me.
However I'm currently saving for my top surgery because I *do* suffer dysphoria there. |

I could use any term i like really. i maybe a pre op trannsexual all my life and remain on hormone treatment for 40 years before having GRS. I'm only using any of the terms as a self identity or to help other people understand a stage i might be at in my life
The only reconigsed gender identites are male and female. \Hence the confusion |

Sorry I totally missed this!
Sort of any size you like but within reason. If you want a size that just won't work (doner site is too small, to high a risk of complications etc.) then your surgeon would advise against it.
I know black trans guys go for big dicks because they want to match the stereotype, but the problem with that is (apart from it being a stereotype) that the end size is just that, we don't shrink or get bigger!
Like I said in my pm, I'm just under 5", before the swelling went down I couldn't fit him in my underwear because he just wouldn't bend to fit. I didn't ask for a certain size but I'm glad I wasn't given bigger as I just don't think it would have worked for me. |

It will be once I've had the erectile device put in. But I'm a bottom so I'm not to bothered about being able to do that. |

"With how hard lower surgery is on the body, both mentally and physically, and with it not always giving people the results they want, I'm fully understand why not everyone goes through it."
A friend of mine's going through the same, had top surgery last October, been on T for a year & a half, I think? He's not sure about bottom surgery but wants a hysterectomy anyway. |

Transguy thanks for allowing us a guided tour of your life. With every story shared hopefully comes a little more acceptance as to who we are. It's unfortunate that people are defined by labels instead of being human but for the moment their needed to help others understand something which to them is different. |

I'm currently recovering from the first of 3 operations to make my penis. It's really not something to do without a lot of thought and preparation. This is major surgery. I'm having issues with the skin graft on my arm which is taking a lot longer to heal and holding up the next operation unfortunately. It's frustrating and hard to deal with, but at least I can look in the mirror and smile at what looks back at me now. |

Oh I have no issues telling people about it, I'm never going to be able to get away from being/having been trans so I've come to accept it and it really doesn't bother me so no worries
If I can educate even just one person along the way then fantastic. To be honest I probably just confuse some people even more! |
