What do you look for in the first message? What makes you think...actually I'm gonna look at this profile...on the other side what puts you off in a first message?...I've had some amazing ones and some less so fantastic ones and it got me thinking...dangerous I know...what are your views?

Calderdale innit

I like it if they show they have read my profile ,maybe refer to something in it.A little humour is good too in a message.

I find that women are far lazier than guys when it comes to messaging. I know the numbers are stacked in womens favour on these sites, but still. A "Hi" and fanny pic really isn't making a great first impression.

I look at all profiles anyway, i know how hard it is for guys to send a decent first message.

Only if it's something that puts me off them do i block and not look.

Women are like gods here, doesn't matter what you write really, 99% of the time it wont replied to even tho its a thoughtful msg about their profile lol

Humour gets my attention every time, as the saying goes... If you can make a woman laugh, you can make her do anything or something to that effect

Things that put me off, lazy grumpy negative men who ask in the first message if I will meet them in an hour so they can get their end away...pretty sure I'm not a escort giving freebies

I've experienced this too

..now I'm not shy and will happily contact someone else but prefer to read n see if I'm what they are looking for first...but when I message with a well thought out message and my reply is...so u fancy a fuck then?? I get frustrated...I messaged you so I'm obviously interested in getting to know them but why cut our all the formalities lol...

Just block them from messaging, will give you one less thong to moan about. And save you time deleting them.

There is a certain truth to shags post unfortunately some ladies (and couples) find themselves very popular on here so go for the why should I reply if I don't want you ..I get it when there's lots to reply to but I've found it stops repeat contact as they then know where they stand...most will then block to make sure they don't try again lol

I always respond to messages that give me something to respond to. An actual conversation starter that is meaningful and relevant.

If they are humorous it shows they have read my profile and understand what I'm about.

I have to roll my eyes at the 'hi, how are you messages?'. I know it's a start, but it gives me very little to work on. The response being 'Good ta, you?' And their's then being 'Yeah thanks, what you been up to?'

I'd rather have a wank than have to endure the tediousness of that script. If they can't capture my attention in the first message they certainly won't be able to do it several messages down the line or in person.

If they've written something quirky and relevant to my profile in the message title box then I'll read without looking at their profile.

My profile purposely says a minimum of 7 words in your message (I'm being facetious) so a 'hi how's you' is a refusal.

When I'm addressed as hun or babe its a instant no thanks..trivial I know but hey.

Makes sense if they don't read profile they may well miss out on that kind of thing...

Yes, this gets me too, and a little humour goes a very long way for me.

Feel free to look at my profile and tell me if it makes sense, and if so then why single men still try their luck . That said I almost always reply to every message, even if it's just a "Thanks for the message but we're not looking for the same things" etc.

"Women are like gods here, doesn't matter what you write really, 99% of the time it wont replied to even tho its a thoughtful msg about their profile lol "

Ah, but a thoughtful message would not be "hi love, fancy a fuck tonight?" when my profile says I'm in Madrid :P

For me... it's about showing me you're capable of more than just thinking with your genitals. Show me that I can actually have an intelligent conversation with you and I'll be happy. Besides, I always look at the sender's profile; I'm nosey!

If you have the conversational skills of a spoon then it never really gets past a first message
