Women and their bodies

Simple, all we see on the cat walk are size zero models, all we see in women's magazines and on the TV magazines are skinny women and all you see in men's mags like nuts are airbrushed models with perfect figures and big boobs! Is it any wonder we have so many hang ups?
All that said I have to admit that since we started swinging I am much more confident and happy with my size 16 body with bumps in all the wrong places!
I now know more than ever that gorgeous women (and men) come in all shapes and sizes! |

Media has a lot to answer for for sure. Nothing sexier than a woman who will strut across the room confident in herself. Us blokes are the same though I guess - more recently admittedly but the pressure to look and be right is building for us too.
Women do find the most random things to dislike in photos though - 'ooh look at my fat calfs or look at my forehead. For some reason they ignore the 'whole' and focus on something they don't like that most others just don't see. |

I bet no-one else notices but then it's the hang ups we have about our own bodies that hold us back - not generally what others think or that others may have same/more/bigger hang-ups. It's our hang ups that matter and affect us.
Gonna have to look at your profile and look for slippage now *crosses fingers* |

Used to have a lot of hang ups when I was younger but now I'm 34, have had 2 children and each lump, bump and stretch mark tells a story of my life. Of course I'd like bits of me to be different but this is how I am and the older I get the more I realise that whatever your shape and size there is no excuse to look shabby! |

Some women are just unrealistic, and buy into the media's idea of what's perfect.
I think men will suffer also for the simple fact they are bombarded with images of pneumatic, firm breast, flawless skin, perfect muscle tone, perfection. When they come across a "real woman" they may find her wanting, missing out.
If they stuck me down a mine shaft for a year with an exercise bike, crispbread and water I'll NEVER have a body like Halle Berry!! I've got to work with what I've got and except that.
I can't afford to live in Chelsea, and probably never will I know and except that, just as I accept I'll never look like Halle...some women can't accept that and make themselves - and those around them - miserable and then wonder why they can't find a man.
Self loathing is ugly!! |

yeh I blame airbrushing and photoshop from the media and all the plastic surgery that celebs have to maintain what is percieved as the "perfect" body/look
I just love it when they have pics of people looking natural though and they look like they have been dragged through a hedge backwards ha!
I have good body days and bad body days probably like most women but I don't have any major hangups,im not shy about my body in front of people, and I love the effect it has on people sometimes |

"If i had hangups id never meet anyone and walk round with a bag over my head. You have to be comfortable in your own skin otherwise you will never get anywhere"
I don't think that's strictly true - I'm not at all comfortable in my own skin but the only way I've managed to 'get anywhere' is to find ways around my hang-ups (lingerie, sarongs etc). Not everyone with a hang-up is a slave to it.

Im ok about my body as long as i dont focus on it. Swinging has given me so much more confidence. Im happy to walk around a club with nothing on. Gives you quite a boost when you see peeps looking. |

The media does certainly have a part to play but equally men make comments about women all the time, trying to put them down, and then of course theres the other bitchy women who will make comments, even if you tell yourself it doesnt matter, it does have an effect.
I must admit though that I have felt very very confident since swinging and am slowly learning to love my curves |

A man went into a shop and asked for a bag of doughnuts.
He dribbled as he opened the bag.
He so wanted it to have doughnuts inside.
It did !
He was euphoric!
He held them gently and licked them. He sucked his fingers as savoured each bite.
He smiled at his doughnuts.
He didn't weigh them.
He didn't measure them.
He happily devoured them.
Most of them think the same way about women.
When they unwrap one they just want it to have a woman inside.
Bless them. x |

i used to be more hung up about my body when i was a size zero (pre baby) because the only clothes that would fit me came from the kiddy sections in department stores, now i'm a size 8, (and dont shoot me down in flames) i'm alot happier cause i can buy nice clothes designed for my size and tastes |

I was very self concious of my body when we started swinging. After 3 kids which I breastfed, ate for 6 whilst pregnant with each, I had the saggy boobs, jelly belly, stretch marks and big bum.LOL Still got the big bum even after losing 5 stone but swinging has boosted my self confidence tenfold.
I found that people are not judgemental at all which I thought was going to be the case when we started. I'd see all the pics on peoples profiles and they looked stunning. Now friends we play with enjoy my body and I their's with all our imperfections, and that is great. I will always, from now on, except the way I am and not beat myself up about boobs that descend to the arm pits when I am lying down!!!LOL |

I like my curves and I'm way more confident now than when I was younger!
Having said that, I believe that most people are brought up to believe that "thin" is good and "fat" is wrong! |

I agree with most of the ladies on here. We all have bits of us we are not happy with (and I don't think this is exclusive to women) but as we get older and more comfortable with our bodies then we get less hang ups and realise that beauty is from within and confidence is far more sexy than a so called perfect body.

I think it is mostly British women who have this issue, god knows why though.
Women in Europe particulary France have more courage to bear all perhaps its an inner confidence, and there is nothing more sexy than a woman who is confident in herself. |

i find most of the women on this site to be refreshing. Sounds silly but it seems north american women have alot of hang ups about their bodies. I will never be a size 6 and really use to hate it, but since coming on to this site, i am apreciating my body more. The media here tells you your body needs to be toned and have a six pack, blonde hair and big boobs are the wanted look. The men and women on this site have never made me feel anything but beautiful and desirable. You guys rock |

i do think that just about sums it up
if men are supposed to like 'real women' like guys on here keep telling us they do, why dont you see women in nuts with bodies like mine? lol
my theory to that is cause men will tell you they like women with meat on them in order to get a shag
what they really want is women in said magazine as stated above but lets me honest im much easier to meet so they have to pretend dont they?
its called taking whats on offer and making do lol
and thats why i have hang ups, cant speak for anyone else tho |

Because the media says we must be slim to be gorgeous and sexy thats why, hence if i see pictures of me, the first thing i see is the fat mummy tummy that if i could afford to, id have liposuction as nothing unsexy to me than a nice clingy dress that has a fat bulge in it, spoils it completely. this means that one of my dresses that i wore to my kids friends wedding (the picture of me and the kids looks great but all i see is the bulge of my stomach) is hung in the wardrobe and thats where it is staying.
To another point that was made, i am much more confident now im swinging and the Beach Party was such an eye opener and massive confidence boost for me but i still find it a little difficult to take compliments, as all i wonder why anyone says something when ive such a fat stomach |

Was playing with lady last night who said, "I'm keeping this on because I'm getting fat, I've never been 9 stones before"
Fooking 'ell, you can count her ribs when she lies down.
Will never understand why some ladies have these complexes. |

Oooh, that's a very cynical take on things! The same could be said about all women wanting the likes of Brad Pitt and making do with whats on offer!
I'm not for one minute suggesting that I'd throw Brad out of bed (or Angelina for that matter!) but that's not to say I don't find 'real' people sexy, even if they haven't got perfect bodies! If there is one thing I've learnt its that confidence is so sexy and I don't get hung up on other peoples lumps and bumps when I'm playing so I'm hoping that other people aren't concentrating on mine! |
