Question for the ladies (guys you can input too if your OH does this).

Just wondered if any of you shave your arms, as in the whole arm, not just your armpits, like you'd shave your legs.

I'm naturally blonde, so my hair is quite fair, but still noticeable, but haven't shaved my arms since I was a teen, not sure if it's the done thing!

What do you reckon?

MAMOBA, miles and miles of bugger all (Aberdeenshire)

I'm very lucky that my body hair is very fair on my arms... so I don't have to do anything with them.

Even my upper legs I can get away with shaving once a week or so... I'm not hugely hairy.

I don't think shaving arms is necessary unless you are exceptionally uncomfortable with it. Shaving can make hair grow in with a harsher end so it looks more noticeable.

Nope. I couldn't imagine what a ballache it would be to have to keep up with shit like that.

I hate to imagine how much time some women spend/waste during their lifetime shaving their bits and pieces. Jeez, give it a rest. There's nothing wrong with a bit of hair. It's there for a reason. Learn to love it.

Mine is noticeable, my kids ask me why i have hairy arms lol, but i don't shave it. Same as you i did it in my teens then stopped bothering.

I only ever do my legs if i'm hooking up, don't care to do them any other time. Thinking to just let them grow like my arms, am sure none of this hair looks as bad as we think it does.

Always trim my pubes but only because they get tangled up if i don't. Started letting my armpits grow a bit too. I feel very liberated right now and just don't care to be hair free. Tempted to let my tash grow too but not that brave yet.

I can't be doing with the ballache of more shaving. Can't wax due to medical reasons. I only shave below my knees because my hair is so fine and blonde. Just curious as to whether other ladies shave. Think I'll keep them hairy!

I do shave my arms......I shave nearly everything....I wish I had no hair or not as much hair.. Had laser treatment for my legs so its a lot better now but used to have more hair on my legs than my ex...before the treatment.....Hate the feel of stubble. Love the feel of women's smooth legs that dont have much hair!! Jealous yes! But hey I'm healthy so I shouldnt complain!!!

I don't shave much to be honest. I used to be unhealthily obsessed with my body hair and used to shave and wax everywhere. But I've just got over it now.

I'll occasionally treat myself to a lower arm wax if in going to a fancy event and wearing a nice dress as my skin is very pale and I have light brown hair in my arms which can look darker in certain lights. I shave my lower leg once a week or so (ie when I'm seeing S) and neaten up my bikini line. Armpits will be done if they're on show. But trim trim trim generally.

We're naturally less hairy than guys anyway, that's why i was thinking it's probably not as bad as what we think. But yeah bet no-one would complain about it.

You can definitely feel it but it doesn't seem that bad to me now i'm feeling it and thinking about it.

I generally immac mine, or use the epilator if I can be arsed. I wish I didn't need to, but I'm pale and have very thick dark hair, not just on my head. After being self conscious about it for pretty much all of my teenage years I just stated getting rid of it!

Would rather women keep their arm hair which is perfectly normal than feel the harsh stubble from where it's been shaved. I'm sure it hasn't even crossed most guys mind. You're all sexy the way you are!

I just don't understand where this has all come from. Once upon a time not so long ago really, women didn't give a shit about their body hair. Now it's verging on OCD with some of you!

There speaks a woman who has never felt self conscious about excess body hair then. Believe me, mine is noticeable - male or female. I wouldn't feel comfortable in a short sleeved top, never mind naked, if I didn't remove it!

I am Sicilian as such I'm very dark and very hairy, nothing I can do about it its just how Mediterranean people are, as such I have to wax and pluck everywhere other wise I'd have a tash, side burns and a full on gorilla legs, very thick black body hair is not attractive to 99% of the population so I feel I have no choice either wax, shave and pluck or get looked at like I'm a freak

Actually I have thick dark hair too. I've honestly never noticed anyone being concerned over arm hair...underarms, bikini area and legs, yes...but never arms. it is a complete revelation to me that people are self conscious of it.

The hair on my arms is quite dark like the rest of my hair I suppose lol!

It's never really bothered me though, in summer it goes lighter and my skin goes darker soit's only really noticeable over the winter months.

My best friend used to bleach her arm hair and my sister used to epilate her arms...personally I think it's madness!!!

No, I do it because I like it. Not for anyone else's benefit. I love the feel of being smooth. No other reason.

Mr Pleasures is the same. I sometimes hear his razor going several times a day. He doesn't shave his arms or legs though...lol!

I'm not Mediterranean but apart from that, yep I'm exactly the same. It's all very well if it's a bit of blonde downy hair, which is what everyone expects on a woman but left to its own devices I'd probably have more arm hair than my husband.

As a man who likes women a bit more au naturel this whole supposed need to shave saddens me. However, freedom of choice and all that. I don't like women saying they 'have to' shave this, that and the other though. I don't think you really 'have to' most of the time. It's more society's general view of this that makes you think you 'have to'.

Hey, I assure you it would not bother me that much. Sure I may prefer a few bits trimmed up a little but not shaved into oblivion. You'd still be you at the end of the day and the world would still go on turning. I'd be far more interested in other parts of your anatomy and what you were like as a human being rather than 'argh hasn't she got hairy arms!'.

Then again I might also think this is the sexiest gorilla I've ever met!

No, mine are very different to my legs. Now they're a nightmare. Within a few hours they get a bit stubbly. I'm too much of a wimp to wax and also won't tolerate the regrowth you need for waxing.

"so all you ladies that shave/wax your arms, does the hair grow back stubbly? "

I only epilated my arms for the first time yesterday (ouch) because it was stubbly on regrowth by shaving.

I've epilated my hands since Christmas ( it was a present from my wife) and the regrowth has lessened and is much softer already. Hoping it will be the same with my arms.

"Well if no one has ever pointed it out to you or taken the piss out of you for it, or openly gawped at it, then it doesn't sound like you need to worry. "

I regularly get talked about by the women in my class at uni, and by other students. I'm ten years older than them all though, so I guess I'm the natural target for discussion.

They think I'm weird because I shave my head and grow my armpit hair. I think they're weird because they care about what I do with my own body.

I'm sure one day they will grow up...
