Do you use 'who is near'?
Jump to: Newest in thread
It is good but only beneficial if those in close proximity are available and willing to meet.....most people need advance warning re meeting whether social or otherwise as understandabley have commitments outside Fabs with work and families etc |

I look at it a lot, but as I travel a lot I don't find many people near!!!
Just check and there is no one in Saigon!! Everyone says 500miles +
Will check again later, just to be sure though!! |

"No never, its pointless. When I check who is near it just displays men lol, I guess as there aint no local women near lol
You can additionally filter to your search requirements" yes I have done that as well, few came up but to far |

Now I know none of you guys are going to believe me but I used it once and there were not one but TWO women nearby. I felt so privleged to see such a rare spectacle in the wild.
It's not happened since, can anyone beat that! |

It's not always that accurate though. We were stood next to some friends and looking at each other's phones and it had us as being 3 miles away from each other.
I also noticed earlier that somebody from another town was 2-3 miles away and when I looked at their profile it said on Mobile 30 miles away.

We've never used it to find a meet, would rather take a bit of time to get to know someone. I don't think we've ever been that desperate to find a meet that we need to search out who ever is closest. |

How desperate have you been and what did you do? Just out of interest |

"Have you used this Fabs feature to check on those close to you? If so was it beneficial in breaking the ice and/ or meeting?"
I often use it out of of shear curiosity when out and about. It did bring about a meet once. A late night hotel foray while I was away working. That was fun |

I've used it on my travels, but the problem with it is that I think it only refreshes your location when you do a search for users nearby. Therefore, if like me you move around the country you have to remember to refresh it regularly. |

No, never.
Just because they're nearby doesn't mean they're available or that there would be mutual attraction.
I'd rather look for people who interest me and arrange something for when we both have time if they are also interested. |

I agree with the mutual attraction bit but I think that if they turn it on (I call it the fab-dar) then there's a high probability that they want to be found and willing to take a chance on the attraction element - they maybe pleasantly surprised. |

I suspect a lot simply leave it on. |

Good point - I wasn't thinking of that option as I only turn mine on when I wish to be found, like on a night out... |

After watching Cucumber (final episode tonight) I wondered whether FAB has the equivalent of Grindr which gay men use, but which we could use to meet couples.
It seems "who is near" might be the answer but only on the mobile version. Must get myself a better phone!

"Yes it's one of the best methods of blocking people.
Haha!!!! So true!!!!!'"
I use it to stop embarrassment on school run. I live in a village so instantly block within 1-2 miles
