I wonder if the new law regarding posting "revenge porn" will catch those fake users posting other people's photos?
Could we see a reduction in men pretending to be women or couples once they realise that they could be sent to prison for a couple of years? |

Regarding fake profiles has anyone else noticed the amount of profiles that just say " I'm a straight woman looking to meet men"+
I've seen loads like that. Just seemed like an unlikely coincidence. Maybe I'm wrong? |

The new laws regarding revenge porn don't cover lifting photos from the Internet and using them as your own. It only works if you know the person involved I believe. |

I think there still must be a lot of people on here with fake profiles as when you message them they ask for pics, u send and then there profiles disappeared and looks like they have deleted them. |

"The Criminal Justice and Courts Bill, which is awaiting Royal Ascent and will imminently be passed into law, contains an amendment specifically dealing with revenge porn which states that sexually explicit images or videos sent without consent over Facebook, Twitter and other social networks, as well as by text message, with the intent to cause harm, is illegal. The law includes the sharing of these images without consent both on and offline and includes the physical distribution of images.
Revenge porn is now legally described as “photographs or films which show people engaged in sexual activity or depicted in a sexual way or with their genitals exposed, where what is shown would not usually be seen in public"."
So if you share an image without consent you're guilty. |

We'll have to wait and see. This phrase is necessary to prosecute under existing anti-harrassment legislation, appears in one place in the new legislation, but is excluded in others, and in the MoJ new guidance.
The use of eg Facebook pics of people you don't know, to create 'adult' profiles is a specific example I have seen used in the MoJ's public awareness campaign

From the above I guess there could be alot of users on sites like xhamster who could find themselves in hot water.
It's full of users posting vids captured on mobile phones that are most likely "third hand". |

If you can prove there was intent to cause harm - think it may be a long and expensive process but hope you are right - there are so many fakes |
