Are the "Beats" headphones really that good.
I recently seen the "entry" level of headphones come in at a whopping £270, which I find WAY overpriced.
Does anyone think there worth that.
Or do others feel the way I do - overpriced.

Any headphones are only as good as your ears.
Beats are a trendy designer brand - just like armini jeans. Your paying for the brand.
There are many good quality headphone out there such as technics and others like DJ's use.
Or lesser expensive ones..
it depends on how much you can get range wise from your own ears.. and what quality your music is also.. |

beats are ridiculously overpriced..... if you want something better at a much more reasonable price may i suggest sennheiser's
beats and bose can be very "bass heavy"
skullcandy as a not bad very basic entry... sennheisers are worth the extra money up from those |

He's right about the ears part. But beats and monster both when they were producing models together and as they are now (separately) are only out for one thing. Their target audience is teenagers. Those who are new and into the rave, heavy bass and massive pulsating big room kicks. Far from the 80's these tunes are
As a young adolescent. Studying the technology side of music as well as studied the theory side, beats are far to heavy on bass and from an article I read last year, they're damaging on the ear.
The ear can only handle so much low to high frequencies and then it starts to deteriorate. That is of course if you're using them like most people do with the volume up so high the rest of the nation can hear the music.
If you want to spend money, buy a set of sennheisers. The hd201 or 205s are fantastic. I use the hd25 when I DJ and the a behringer set in studio as well as the 201!
Marshall do very good studio headphones also!!

I also prefer AKG headphones to beats.
Tried the beats ones. Way too heavy on the bass no real definition. I suppose it does depend on what you are listening to how good your hearing is and just how picky you are
Like speakers I have to have good headphones! |

I have some skullcandy ear phones I paid £39.99 and I can't complain about them at all, good sound quality etc
I can't see what a pair of earphones that cost over £100 will do that mime don't |

As the song said... It's about the bass, about the bass...
Seriously though, beats are pretty poor for the price you pay. It's all about the look of them, and if you wear them in the gym then a bit of sweat ruins them. Though I think they've released some gym friendly ones.
Sennheiser usually do some really good headphones. It's worth doing some research and if you can try some in shops that have a display. |

"Overpriced, too much bottom end and designed to work with mp3s (which they don't do very well). Sennheiser are much better. Or Beyer Dynamic."
Fox bought be some Sennheisers (HD201's) at xmas for under £20 from the online retailer named after that big old river in South America!
Great sound and better than the waaaay more expensive ones I'd just bust!

My job is selling tech in a store and headphones were a part of that. Fabio hit the nail on the head, I would always recommend Senheisers to customers that asked for an honest opinion for sound quality, value for money and durability, even when I was supposed to be pushing the most expensive products (Beats are good for bass but are not worth their price tag).
