I was always quite embarrassed about that kind of thing until I had my son, once you've been through child birth and had god knows how many people poking around down there you get over it!! Haha!! Doesn't bother me at all now.

The only problem I've got with found is that there isn't one anywhere near me that's open outside office hours, so getting checked out requires using half a day's holiday.

Some will offer distance testing where you can send samples/swabs via post. Not ideal but better than nothing?

There maybe a health centre walk in centre near you...

Perhaps at rail station, that where I went near me.

Or your local hospital, my one does a saturday morning clinic.

Would be advisory to phone first for an appointment.

Good luck

I don't understand why people don't go, it's your health! Surely a few minutes of feeling uncomfortable with one person is better than who knows how long if you've not caught something in the early stages and now you've got more people poking around to try to fix something nasty for you?

The one round here has a latest appointment if 5:30, it's blooming tight to get to it on time after work but I will make sure I try my hardest to. No excuses. If I needed to work the extra to make up for having to do it during work hours I will. Keeping an eye on my health is more important.

It is, but one of those is appointment only and they don't take appointments starting after. The other is a busy walk-in and if you very there too late you won't get seen before they close. I can't get there until 6:15 at the absolute earliest from where I work. My company's policy on flexible hours is that you can do whatever hours you like as long as you're in the office 9-5:30, so to get to SHAW (which is the clinic I use) I have take a morning or afternoon off.

...Up on the Downs

Well done OP. The clinic I use is a fabulous place, WAY nicer to visit that my own GP surgery - better building, brighter, more efficient, MUCH nicer staff, I wish I could go there for everything lol!

Definitely, which is why I get checked there. Fortunately, my success rate here is low enough that 3-4 times per year is enough. It's just bloody annoying that I've got no options for getting tested outside working hours.

Well worth taking the time out to do this . Everyone on this site should go on a regular basis. It's your health .

There should be more clinics , with longer opening hours . I have to travel a great distance to mine and wait 2 weeks on results . They are lovely and friendly though . Free condoms and free advice . Felt really comfortable yesterday , the 2 nurses that dealt with me this time had me in kinks . Joan Armatrading we on the hospital radio an the nurse taking my blood told me she loved her singing , she wants to go see her singing live at our local opera house soon because she lost her virginity to her music . But her husband is working . I told her to go alone and enjoy the memories . Last thing I expected to hear we a nurse divulging the loss of her virginity . So it's not all doom n gloom . They are human too .

I normally get checked every 3 or 4 months had my latest test the other week and has come back clear, they also tested for hep b as I thought I was immune and found that I wasn't so they are providing the hep b vaccination as well.

yes they provide free condoms but that is just a bonus for me, as I feel safe as my family are concerned about my lifestyle and its peace of mind for them too, as o don't hide the fact that I'm a swinger.

Best thing to do is check NHS choices website for local services.

mentioned it to one of the nurses that I saw and she told me they used to visit the dogging sites with free condoms and sexual health information, then proceeded to ask about how I got into swinging. I gave a rough answer and offered her the website address if she wanted to find out more.
