"Is there such thing as a sex addict and is it a real illness if so I think I might have it lol"
We met a self proclaimed sex addict once in Xtasia. Hell of a big story about his addiction but when it came to it he struggled to get a hard on and spent most of his time wanking with one hand and tweaking his nipples with the other.
Strange kind of sex addiction that is for sure |

there is a big difference between a healthy liking for sex and addiction..
think if you did have it you wouldn't see it as a 'lol' thing.. |

An addiction for sex wouldn't revolve around struggling to get a hard on though i suppose. I genuinely feel sorry for people with true addiction issues, even for sex. |

Yes it is real. It's not medically classed as an illness, but like most addictions it can have bad repercussions that impact negatively on your life. And that is when it becomes a problem.
I like to use the word dependency when talking about addictions because being dependent on something makes it more clear on what an addiction is and how people use addictions to cope.
You can have a high sex drive, and it might not have a negative impact because you can control yourself. This is probably not the same as a sex addiction. |

There is a diference to be a sex addict and actually have sex everyday and not like once a month don't you think? Cos being an addict means you have to have it everyday, like a drug kinda thing. |

Not every waking minute no. But when not coping it can become a better distraction to focus on. |

No problem.
Like i said, the word dependency can be a better word to use than addiction. They basically mean the same thing, but do imply slightly different things thanks to the word addict being used most often but with false (and often derogatory) information.
Sometimes people can't cope. The amount anyone can cope with varies, as well as how they try to cope with it.
We're all dependent on something or someone in one way or another, what we become dependent on will work for us and help us to cope if they're reliable and always there for us in times of need. Which is why some people become dependent to all kinds of things other than people who support them, because people let them down so they turn to something else.
It's way more complicated than this but psychologically that's the basics as i see them. |

Real sex addiction has very little to do with the sex act, its about control issues and the quest for things like cyber sex, using prostitues, spending money you haven't got until it takes over your life. It doesn't matter who the addict uses to get his fix as long as they are willing and give him/her the control, spending hours trawling sex sites, sexting continuously, making new conquests without regard to the risk of losing his/her family are all parts of it. A healthy relationship with sex it is not, its out of control and it wrecks lives |
